Chapter 21
Eliza sat in the elegant Michelin starred restaurant, staring at the French cuisine she once loved, now
with no appetite at all.
Liam watched her cautiously, “Liza, don’t you like it? Should we go somewhere else?”
“No need.” She looked at him, expressionless.
“If you have something to say, say it. After this, we make a clean break. We won’t see each other
again.”
“A clean break?” Those words hurt Liam’s heart.
“Liza, can you really throw away twenty years of love?”
“Liam, what else is there to say between us? I’ve already stepped aside for your family of three.“”
“Don’t say that, Liza. That was never my child.” Regret filled Liam’s face. “I told you, I’d only ever accept a child from you…”
He looked at her desperately, searching for any trace of love in her expression, but she only stared back coldly, delivering her ultimatum.
“Say what you need to say quickly, Liam. I have somewhere to be.” She glanced disinterestedly at her watch, urging him to continue.
Seeing her like this, Liam was too pained to speak.
“What… do you need to do?” He finally ask through gritted teeth.
“How is that any of your business?” Eliza looked annoyed. “If this is all you have to say, then we’re
done here.”
She stood up, pushing her chair back to leave, but Liam blocked her path. “Liza, please, tell me what’s so important that it can’t wait.”
Her face remained blank. “Everything is more important than you. But if you must know, I’ll tell you.”

Chapter 21
“Wedding. Dress. Fitting.”
“What?“He gritted his teeth. “Liza, don’t lie to me. If you’re saying these things to hurt me, you might
as well kill me.”
Liam unconsciously grabbed her, holding tightly, desperate to find any hint that she wasn’t telling
the truth.
“Liza, don’t lie to me.”
Eliza frowned. “Let go, Liam. You said you wanted to say goodbye, so I came. I didn’t realize you
were just making excuses.”
“I shouldn’t have trusted you again.”
“How many times have you lied to me, Liam? I’ve lost count. Ever since Maya got pregnant, you’ve done nothing but lie.”
She just wanted to leave. “Liam, let me go, and let yourself go too. There’s no chance for us anymore. I’ll have my life, and you’ll have yours. Can’t we just say a dignified goodbye?”
Liam’s mind snapped. He couldn’t imagine life without Eliza.
“Liza, I can’t live without you…”
He begged desperately. “Please, come back to me?”
“Liam, have you ever considered that when I married you, I was already compromising myself?”
Eliza shook off his hand. “I only wanted a free, easy life. For you, ‘I gave up everything, put on a mask to be the perfect, understanding Mrs. Harris.”
“And what did you do? You not only failed to appreciate me, but you had a child with another
man, expected me to tolerate everything, and kept saying you had your reasons. What reasons?”
Seemingly thirsty from talking, she picked up the untouched water glass on the table and drank it all.
“Liza, don’t drink that-”
Liam watched helplessly as she drained the glass, his hand frozen in mid–air.
“Liam, what’s wrong? Is there something wrong with the water?”

“Quick, Liza, get in the car. I need to take you to the hospital!”
He couldn’t think of anything else–he just needed to get her out of the restaurant.
“What are you doing!” Eliza tried to push him away, desperate to break free, but a strange, uncontrollable heat surged through her, betraying her will.
Liam quickly took off his jacket and wrapped it around her, bundling her into the car.
“What’s happening?” Eliza lay in the back seat. The enclosed car was filled with pine scent, which now seemed to act as an aphrodisiac, making her moan involuntarily.
“Liza!” Liam was filled with regret. He’d arrived early and, in a moment of madness, added the drug
to her water.
His grandmother’s words echoed in his mind:
“Instead of letting her be with someone else, why not have her carry your child? We can make things
right with her later…”
“Women say they don’t want kids, but once they’re pregnant, they can’t let go.”
Eliza seemed to have lost her senses, clutching his solid forearm while her other hand grabbed at his
sleeve.
“Liza, do you know who I am?” His eyes darkened as he looked at her hungry, passionate
expression, no longer able to suppress his desire.
“Do you know how much it hurt to see you with another man?”
He gently kissed her earlobe, his fingers intertwining with hers, holding her firmly.
“Has he kissed you here?” he murmured, voice low and teasing, lips brushing her earlobe. “Does he
know how sensitive you are right there?”
As if to punish her, his tongue grazed her earlobe, his scalding breath fanning the flames of desire,
igniting an unbearable heat between them.
“You’re…” She bit her lip, broken moans escaping despite her efforts.
“Who am I?” Liam kissed her lips, coaxing her softly.

Unexpectedly, Eliza, lost in the drug’s effects, suddenly pushed him away.
“You’re not Julian! Who are you?”
