Chapter 13
In the hospital room, Hannah anxiously bit at her fingertips. She gnawed repeatedly until her fingers were raw and bleeding, yet she seemed completely unaware of the pain.
She walked barefoot to the door, eyeing the bodyguards stationed outside who hadn’t left their post for a moment. Her eyes darted nervously. Returning to bed, her fingers tapped erratically against the metal railing, creating an arrhythmic noise.
Hannah had been confined here for a week. The doors and windows were sealed shut, with
round–the–clock guards. Her phone had been confiscated, and the television in the room received no
signal.
It was essentially a prison island.
Outside, the rain had stopped, but her mood was darker than any storm cloud.
In her dazed state, Hannah heard a nurse’s voice approaching.
Jake feared she might harm herself and die in the hospital, so he’d arranged for nurses to check on her daily.
But this couldn’t continue–she couldn’t remain locked up any longer!
A knock sounded at the door.
“Miss Matthews, I’m coming in.”
Hannah quickly wrapped herself in blankets, listening as the nurse’s footsteps approached.
“Miss Matthews, it’s time for your medication.”
There was a soft click as the pill bottle was placed on the nightstand.
Hannah pulled back a corner of the blanket, revealing a weak smile. “Could you get me some water, please?”
The moment the nurse turned away, she swiftly extracted the phone from the nurse’s pocket and hid it under her pillow.

Maintaining a neutral expression, she patiently waited for the nurse to complete the check–up and leave.
As soon as the door closed, Hannah retreated under the covers and dialed a familiar number.
‘Liam, how much longer do I have to wait?” Her voice was barely above a whisper. “Jake has kept me locked up here for a week now. I haven’t even seen his face!”
A soft chuckle came from the other end of the line. “Don’t worry. I’ve prepared all the financial documents. Tomorrow, the news of Landau Group’s fraudulent accounting will break.”
‘Stay calm. You’ll be free very soon.”
Hannah’s nails dug deeply into her palm, her voice filled with chilling hatred. “You’d better keep
your word. And that’s not enough–after what he’s done to me, I want him completely ruined.”
Liam’s deep voice came through the receiver, slightly distorted by static. He laughed softly, his
words brimming with confidence: “With the documents you provided, that will be child’s play.”
After hanging up, Hannah deleted the call history, turned off the phone, and hid it in the narrow gap
between the nightstand and the wall.
Moonlight filtered through the curtains, illuminating her twisted smile.
The next morning, the financial world exploded with news.
Headlines screaming “Landau Group Suspected of Financial Fraud, Stock Plummets 20%” flooded
every social media platform.
The board of directors at Landau Group called an emergency meeting, demanding immediate
explanations from Jake.
In the conference room, accusations from shareholders flew back and forth.
One hot–tempered director slammed his fist on the table. “Mr. Landau, what the hell is going on
here?”
“The issue isn’t how this happened,” another Director said, his expression grave. “If these allegations are true, Mr. Landau, we demand an immediate public audit of all accounts!”
“If it’s true, why bother with an audit? Jake must resign immediately!”

Chapter 13
Jake’s face was ashen as he reviewed the leaked documents. His finger scrolled continuously across
the screen.
Every page bore the official Landau Group seal, with meticulously detailed data that was alarmingly
convincing.
These confidential files were accessible to only a select few individuals.
As the arguments continued around him, his gaze suddenly froze on one particular page.
Each document page bore his signature, except this one–which had been signed by Hannah on his
behalf.
Jake had once taught Hannah how to sign his name in his office.
“Jake, look–does it look like yours?” she had asked.
“Yes, exactly like mine,” he had replied.
He had held her close then, teasing her about that signature.
Who would have thought she had been preparing this gift for him all along?
“So that’s it…”
Jake laughed coldly, slamming the tablet onto the table. “Please give me three days. I promise to provide everyone with a clear resolution.”
Meanwhile, in Nathan’s office, he was watching news reports about Landau Group.
“Today, Landau Group is under investigation by the Securities Commission for alleged financial
fraud. Following this announcement, the company’s stock immediately plummeted, hitting the daily
limit with a 20% drop, causing widespread market concern…”
His expression remained impassive as he turned off the screen and picked up his phone to dial a
number.
