He controlled over ninety percent of Reano City’s economy.
Someone like Cedric could lose his entire business empire with just a single word from Aiden.
Aiden could reduce decades of Cedric’s work to ashes within the hour.
Everyone tried desperately to curry favor with him.
But Alessandro had just thoroughly offended him.
Cedric quickly stepped forward, forcing his nephew’s head down. “Apologize to Aiden. Now.”
Alessandro was stunned. His uncle had never acted like this before. Normally, he turned a blind eye to Alessandro’s antics or even shielded him.
But this time, Cedric’s reaction was explosive.
No matter how resentful Alessandro felt, he understood the severity of the situation and reluctantly mumbled, “I… I’m sorry.”
Aiden looked down at him coldly, demanding, “Repeat what you just said.”

Cedric paled instantly, slapping Alessandro hard. “If Aiden tells you to repeat yourself, you do it. Forget? You better remember fast!”
Alessandro stammered helplessly, “No… no, I really forgot. I… I don’t remember.”
“I remember,” Payton suddenly spoke from behind, his face swollen and bruised, yet his voice remained steady. “Before you arrived, he said he was going to take this lady inside, have his fun, and then pass her around.”
At these words, Aiden’s expression turned dangerously dark.
Cedric nearly collapsed from shock.
Cedric’s men quickly grabbed him, supporting him as he staggered.
Valerie glanced briefly at Payton.
Actually, their words had been even worse than Payton described.
Cedric immediately launched himself at Alessandro, raining punches and kicks, shouting furiously, “You animal! You absolute beast! How dare you covet someone connected to Aiden? You’re going to get me killed! I’ll beat you to death myself!”

Alessandro shrieked in agony, rolling across the floor.
Payton watched coldly, adding, “He also said he’d make Alden kneel, call him ‘Grandpa, and hand this lady over personally if he wanted to spare
himself.”
Cedric’s vision went dark, and he collapsed to the floor.
Alessandro panicked, shouting, “What’s wrong? Don’t scare me!”
Cédric clutched his chest, sobbing miserably, “You useless fool! You’ve ruined everything for me!”
With renewed fury, Cedric attacked Alessandro, his blows fierce enough to seem lethal.
The onlookers rushed forward, desperately trying to separate them.
Rowan couldn’t believe how dramatically things had spiraled out of control.
Aiden observed coldly from a distance. A moment later, he turned and gently wrapped an arm around Valerie, quietly asking, “Are you alright?”
Valerie nodded slowly, her eyes drifting toward Payton.
Aiden had already noticed the young man. Payton appeared gentle, almost–fragile, struggling to stand upright, but his eyes never left Valerie–as if she were his only hope.
Aiden’s gaze darkened subtly, and he tightened his grip on Valerie, guiding her away before she could approach Payton.
However, they’d barely reached the corner when hurried footste
sechoed behind them.
Payton had chased after them, abruptly dropping to his knees at their feet.
The sharp crack of his knees hitting the floor was enough to make anyone cringe.
Valerie’s heart clenched painfully as she whispered, “You…”
Payton bowed deeply, tears streaming down his face. “Please, you mentioned lending me one hundred thousand dollars. Were you serious? I desperately need it–one hundred thousand… no, seventy thousand would be enough! My mother is dying, and we’ve finally found a matching heart. I can’t lose this chance. She’s my only family. Please… I swear, I’ll repay you–even if t have to work myself to death.”
His voice broke into desperate sobs.
Valerie felt her heart soften, saying gently, “Stand up. I already intended to lend it to you.”
His desperate pleading made her feel even more uncomfortable.
“Why should we lend you anything?” Aiden’s cold voice interrupted. “We don’t know you, and one hundred thousand dollars isn’t exactly a small sum, is
it?”
Payton stiffened.
Of course, it wasn’t a small sum.
He was still just a student. His mother’s life savings barely amounted to thirty thousand, most already spent.
Payton cried softly, “I know. I know it’s a lot, but I’m desperate. I have no other options. If not for her,” he gestured at Valerie, “I’d have drunk Alessandro’s drugged alcohol. Please, I beg you…”
“Does begging help?” Aiden’s voice was calm, yet ruthless. “Between the word ‘beg‘ and one hundred thousand dollars, I’d rather take the money.”
Payton broke down completely, sobbing helplessly.

Payton raised his head sharply, determination flashing in his eyes. “I can! I’m capable–1 excel in finance at Reano University. I’ve been a top student since high school, admitted without exams. My advisor is planning to recommend me for graduate school…”
