Realizing his intention, Valerie shrank back slightly, but still couldn’t avoid it….
When she woke up the next day, Valerie instinctively looked to her side. Aiden was already gone.
She struggled to get up from the bed and glanced at the small electronic clock on the bedside table. It was already 9 am.
Valerie shot up abruptly. The soreness in her muscles made her gasp sharply in pain. She quickly washed up and got dressed.

Kelly grinned and leaned in closer. “Aiden left the house just now and specifically told everyone not to wake you. No need to be so shy. You’re a married couple. Everyone understands.”
Valerie’s cheeks heated up involuntarily, but facing Kelly’s teasing gaze, her eyes dimmed slightly.
To Kelly, they were a loving couple. But only Valerie knew the truth. This marriage could collapse at any moment.
All that awaited them ahead was the brutal truth. She was only a stand–in for Valentina. What the Walker family needed had always only been Valentina.
Valerie asked, “When did he leave?”
Her early–morning hoarseness had eased after some water.
But Kelly still caught the odd tone and said with a smirk, “He just left. He’s been really busy lately. I heard from Mom that the company is starting an important new project.”
She added, “Aiden just took over as president, and if this project goes well, it’ll win over the old stubborn executives…”
Kelly looked around and whispered, “And put Uncle Louis and Uncle Wesley in their place. Hmph!”
Valerie smiled. “He will. He’ll do brilliantly, and the project will bring great profits to the company.”
Kelly asked with a mischievous grin, “How would you know?”
Valerie just smiled without answering. Of course she knew. In the past timeline, this very project was what made Aiden one of the most sought–after figures in the business world.
He rose several levels in status overnight, becoming someone who could be spoken of on equal footing with Waylon himself. But Valerie said none of
this.
What she didn’t know was that because she had poached Payton from the Shelton Group and placed him in the Walker Group, the success of this timeline version of the project would be even more extraordinary.
For a long time to come, this project would be considered a major highlight in Aiden’s career. But that was for the future.
Meanwhile, Kelly started complaining about her own relationship issues. “I really don’t know what to do anymore, Valerie. When Aiden’s upset, how do you usually coax him?”
Valerie silently sipped her milk, thinking, Just let him blow off some steam.‘

Kelly didn’t want to answer. Anyone calling the house usually wanted her grandmother or grandfather.
A maid quickly picked up the call, “Hello?”
The maid glanced at them and covered the receiver, saying, “Mrs. Valerie Walker, it’s for you.”
