Chapter 8
Chapter 8
The next morning, Maya finished packing and was about to close her suitcase when she heard commotion at the front door. Camden burst in like a man possessed.
Maya instinctively tried to hide her suitcase behind her, but Camden was way too frantic to notice it anyway.
He grabbed her shoulders, panic flooding his voice like she’d never heard before. “Thank God you’re home, Maya.”
Maya looked at him confused, not understanding why he was so worked up.
“Lily’s been in an accident. She needs RH–negative blood, and you’re the only one who can…”

The dim hallway light cast shadows on Camden’s face, highlighting how pale he’d gone.
He didn’t finish his sentence, but the meaning was crystal clear–he wanted her to donate blood to Lily.
Maya thought about yesterday, lying alone on that operating table with no one by her side.
She thought about the ultrasound photo. About Camden’s drunken confession.
Pain spread from her chest through her entire body. Maya had only one thought.
She wasn’t giving Lily shit.
“I’m not doing it.”
No hesitation. Maya refused, her voice eerily calm.
Camden looked shocked, like he couldn’t believe she’d actually say no.
“Lily’s your best friend. How can you-”
“I just won’t.”
If Lily really considered her a friend, she wouldn’t have used Maya to cover up her relationship with Camden. She wouldn’t have tricked Maya into marrying him, treating her like a fucking idiot this whole time.
Maya grabbed her suitcase handle and headed for the door.
Camden stared at her coldly, then forcibly grabbed her hand.
Maya struggled frantically. “Camden, I said no. Let go of me!”
‘I don’t give a damn what you want. You’re giving Lily blood today. You don’t get a choice, Maya.”

Chapter 8
No matter how much Maya cried and fought, Camden dragged her to the hospital anyway.
In the end, Maya was pinned down in the blood draw room, forced to donate to Lily.
The nurse inserting the needle looked puzzled. “That gentleman’s been crying and holding that young lady’s hand outside the ICU. It’s really touching.”
The nurse suddenly asked her, “What’s your relationship to him?”
Maya’s face was deathly pale. “We’re nothing to each other.”
When they pulled the needle out, dizziness hit her hard. Maya gripped the wall for support as the nurse asked worriedly, “Should I call that gentleman over? You look awful.”
Maya slowly stood up. Her lower abdomen suddenly cramped with pain. Her body hadn’t fully recovered from the abortion yet, and losing 400cc of blood had completely drained her.
At the end of the hallway, Camden’s voice drifted over. “It’s done. Don’t worry, she’s got plenty of blood to spare. She’ll be fine.”
Maya froze. Those words stabbed into her chest like knives.
She’d thought she was beyond feeling anything anymore, but in that moment, the pain in her heart was devastatingly real.
She turned and walked out of the hospital.
Back home, she left the divorce papers and her wedding ring on the table.
At the front door with her suitcase, Maya pulled out her phone and removed the SIM card, tossing it into the trash.
In the taxi heading to the airport, the rain stopped.
At the airport, check–in went smoothly. Everything was falling into place..
As the plane climbed higher, Maya watched the city shrink below her. Leaning against the window, she slowly closed her eyes. In her dreams, she felt lighter than she had in years.
Starting today, Camden would completely disappear from her world!
