“You own the place that is hurting my
company?”
Harold smiled and looked at me.
I felt bad.
“Luke, be good to Riley, and do not hurt her.”
Harold, sat on the couch, watching the
workers take everything.
“Do not hurt me? You have been hurting me.”
I was angry.
“What’s going on?”
I asked Luke.
“Riley, the company is falling apart, my
company will take over, so this is now Luke
House.”
I looked at Luke, and saw how ambitious he
was, I didn’t know him.
Maybe he feels like Harold owns him
something.
I asked Harold:
“Did you kill my sister?”
“Riley, I have always wanted to marry you, I
just chose the wrong person.”
Harold said.
“Father, you’re lying, why would you hurt my
mom.”
Conner ran in, sad.
I hugged him, and Conner broke down.
“Riley, I can’t provide for you, leave with him.”

I took Conner away, but he wasn’t as happy
as I was.
Luke didn’t have us stay at my old home, and
moved somewhere bigger.
The old house, Luke would hire a bunch of
workers to feed stray dogs.
Harold was gone, nobody knew where.
My parents liked Luke.
Luke was off of work, he was with me, and
making up the past 7 years.
He would make me food in the morning and
noon.
Bring me flowers.

When I had nightmares, he would pet me.
He would take me to the places we went to.
With Luke, I was starting to get better.
I thought my life was back, but it wasn’t.
Conner was gone.
He wasn’t back when it was getting dark.
“Riley, don’t worry, maybe he got off from
school late, or somewhere to play.”
Luke was indifferent.
“Ok, I will get people to search for him.”
Luke went to call someone.

Luke left, I got a message from Linda:
“Come to the coffee shop, fast.”
I don’t know what happened to Linda, in this
house, she was the only friend I had.
I made an excuse and left.
“Bam.”
