Chapter 326
The provincial officials present took one look at the scene and understood immediately.
Ivy clung to Jamison’s arm, witnessing the chaos unfold in front of them. She whispered, “Well, there’s one good thing about everything blowing up–when it gets this big, the higher–ups finally pay attention. That’s the only way to wipe out the whole criminal network and the people protecting them… I just hope this time, all those women taken from our village will be rescued.”
Jamison gave a soft, reassuring reply, “They will be. In a way, this trip turned out to be a blessing in disguise–just not for us, but for those who really need it.” He broke off in a sudden fit of coughing.
Ivy tensed immediately. “Are you okay? Come on, let’s get back to the county hospital–there’s no time to waste!”
Warren hurried over, just as worried. “Mr. Ludwig, the car’s here. You and Miss Windsor should go ahead. I’ll probably be busy here till late tonight, so I can’t see you off.”
Jamison nodded, his voice weighted with fatigue. “Alright. Thank you for everything.” He turned and got into the car.
Ivy had planned to take him straight back to the county for treatment, but winding mountain roads at night were treacherous, and the journey would take almost two
hours.
Worried that Jamison might lose too much blood if they waited, she decided to stop at the town clinic first for emergency care.
By the time their car pulled up to the clinic, it was already nine in the evening.
Several police officers and villagers who’d been injured arrived at the same time.
There were only two staff members on duty at night. Seeing so many wounded, they immediately called every doctor living nearby to come in.
Within minutes, several local doctors rushed back to the clinic, still pulling on their coats as they arrived.
The moment Ivy saw one particular face, her eyes widened in shock and she
actively took a step backward.
Jamison noticed her reaction and asked tightly, “Ivy, what is it?”

She murmured, almost inaudibly, “It’s him…”
Him?
Jamison glanced over to see a male doctor approaching, tugging on a white coat. The man was short, balding, with pale eyebrows and a mole on his cheekbone.
The description matched exactly the incompetent quack Ivy had told him about earlier.
Jamison’s face darkened and he instinctively pulled Ivy closer, telling the nearest nurse, “Get someone else to handle this.”
The staff in this remote little town had no idea who Jamison was. One of them shot back impatiently, “We’re short–staffed tonight. You don’t get to pick and choose. If you don’t like it, you can leave!”
Before the words were out, Derek stepped forward and grabbed the man by the collar, his menacing glare unmistakable. “Watch your attitude. This isn’t someone you want to cross.”
The staff member, startled, realized these guests were not ordinary and immediately stammered an apology.
Just then, the quack doctor drew closer. His gaze swept over Ivy, and he froze, equally stunned. “You! I heard you ran off–why did you come back?”
“Gregory, do you know these people?” another doctor, also in a white coat, asked curiously.
Jamison heard the name and suddenly remembered–during the chaos in the village, he’d heard people yelling, “Find Gregory! Get Gregory over here!”
So this scumbag was tied to Silverfen after all.
Gregory grinned, completely ignoring the line of wounded waiting for treatment. “Of course I know her. She’s married to Silly from our village.”
At once, the injured villagers piped up, eager to complain. “Gregory, that’s Daisy and her family–they came back and stirred up trouble. They’re the ones who attacked us! And Grandpa Walter–Grandpa Walter was killed by them!”
“What?” Gregory’s face drained of color.
