The reason he called them “special friends” was because they were mutual friends of his and Ivy Windsor’s.
Although his true identity hadn’t been exposed yet–and Ivy was still in the dark–he knew it was only a matter of time. Sooner or later, the truth would come out.
Thankfully, their wedding was right around the corner.
Once they were married, and she was officially his, he’d find a chance to come clean himself, hoping she’d go easy on him.
Whatever happened then–be it anger or tears–he’d take it all.

Ivy’s eyes widened in surprise, but she couldn’t help being happy for him.

Bob: That’s right! It’s settled–when Dr. Handsome gets married, we’ll all be there to cheer you on!
Jay: I’m in.

Ivy stared at her computer screen, feeling her cheeks inexplicably flush.
Maybe happiness really made people giddy–she sat in a daze for a moment then placed her hands on the keyboard.
Mrs. Smith: As long as Dr. Handsome invites me, of course I’ll go. But I’m bringing my partner–hope you all don’t mind?
Just as Jamison stepped out of the elevator, his gaze flicked away for a moment. When he unlocked the door and entered the apartment, his eyes fell on that message–he froze in the doorway, forgetting even to take off his shoes.
“My partner.” The phrase made his smile bloom, bright as a field of wildflowers.
Not long ago, while staying at her place, she’d told him she wasn’t ready to embrace her new identity, asking for more time.
Yet now, in the blink of an eye, she was publicly calling him “my partner.”
She’d adapted faster than he could have dreamed.
Joy surged through him, making his heart pound. After a brief hesitation, he couldn’t help but type in the chat: Mrs. Smith is getting married?
Ivy: Yes, but we’re just signing the papers for now–not planning a wedding.
Dale: What’s in the air today? It’s like good news is contagious in this group.
Bob: Double the happiness! The stock market’s bound to soar tomorrow.
Jay: @Mrs. Smith, why no wedding? If you had a ceremony, we’d get to meet up
twice!
Ivy: My partner’s in a special line of work. We don’t want to make a big fuss. Reading this, Jamison felt like he was crawling out of his skin.
He wanted to shout: I want the whole world to know! I want to shout it from the rooftops!
But after a moment, he could only hint at his feelings.
Dr. Handsome: If he truly loves you, he wouldn’t be afraid to go public. I’m sure he’d want a wedding.
Mrs. Smith: It’s my decision. I just don’t want to make things difficult for him.
Bob: Goodness, is this really the Mrs. Smith I know? The decisive, fearless one–turning all sentimental and dreamy on us?
