Chapter 156
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure his family sends someone to keep an eye on him. He won’t bother you again.”
Jamisoh’s reassuring tone caught Ivy off guard, making her feel a little embarrassed.
“Alright, then… let’s leave it at that,” she mumbled awkwardly, then ended the call.
Jamison was already on his way to the next patient’s room. As he walked, he gave his assistant crisp instructions to arrange for someone to “pick up” Micah. At the same time, he called Micah’s father to explain the situation in detail.
Just as Ivy was nearing the gallery, her phone buzzed with a message from Katrina.
“Ivy, a bunch of huge guys just showed up and hauled Micah away!”
Katrina had sent a voice message, followed by two photos. Sure enough, the pictures showed Micah being practically manhandled–four burly men had him, arms and legs pinned, slung over their shoulders.
It looked absurdly like some medieval scene, where a noblewoman is carried off to an audience with the king.
“Good riddance. Are you alright?” Ivy replied, sending her own voice message.
“I’m fine. Let me know when you’re coming back for lunch. I’ll go check the front door,” Katrina replied.
“Alright.”
Their conversation ended just as Ivy arrived at the gallery. She had barely parked her car before Jamison’s name flashed on her phone.
She didn’t even need to guess what this was about.
“Hello?”
“It’s taken care of. I’ve spoken to his family, and they’ll have someone watch over him. He won’t bother you again.” Jamison got straight to the point.
“Okay,” Ivy replied, her voice small. Suddenly, she didn’t know what else to say. After a pause, she added, “Thank you. Sorry to trouble you again.”
Jamison had intended to hang up after the update–after all, she’d made it clear she wasn’t looking for company, so why make things awkward? But when she thanked him, his interest was unexpectedly piqued again.
“Can I ask what happened with you yesterday?” Jamison switched topics abruptly.
Ivy froze.
How was she supposed to answer that? Say she’d been bothered after seeing his child?

“Was it bad news from your follow–up appointment? Are you feeling down?” Jamison prodded gently. In all his years as a doctor, he’d seen just how unpredictable patients‘ moods could be.
“Something like that…” Ivy dodged, not wanting to go into details.
“You could try some traditional therapies for your condition. Remember Dr. Brown, the old specialist I consulted over a video call when I did your acupuncture? He’s at St. Aurelia’s Mercy Hospital. If you want, I can send you his clinic schedule.”
Jamison realized he was meddling, but reasoned with himself: He was just doing his job as a doctor, trying to help his patient find relief. That was what professionalism and ethics demanded. He’d done his part; if she wasn’t interested, he’d let it go from now on.
“Dr. Penn works with Professor Brown. Together, they might be able to help you,” he added, noticing her silence and trying to encourage her.
But Ivy still said nothing.
She wasn’t refusing treatment. She was just struck by the coincidence. Professor Brown at St. Aurelia’s Mercy Hospital… That name sounded awfully familiar.
“The Dr. Brown you mentioned at St. Aurelia’s–is he a fellow of the medical academy?” Ivy finally asked, unable to hide her surprise.
She remembered when she’d consulted Dr. Handsome about her rash, he’d also recommended Professor Brown. Now, two doctors had pointed her to the same specialist–and from the sound of it, Jamison seemed to know Professor Brown personally. What were the odds?
Jamison immediately realized what she was getting at, but he had no time for unnecessary explanations–the treatment mattered most.
“Yes, that’s right. Why? Do you know him?” Jamison played dumb, testing his own acting skills.
