Chapter 155

Chapter 155

Katrina stayed by her side

But as soon as they opened the door, they found Micah crouched by the shoe rack outside

He sprang to his feet. Ivy, good morning! Where are you headed?”

Seeing his excitement, Ivy’s face darkened instantly

Thankfully, Katrina jumped in right away, blocking his path. Ivy, go! I’ll handle him!”

Ivy didn’t hesitateshe strode straight to the elevator and pressed the button

Katrina, move!Micah had clearly been lying in wait for Ivy to come out, and now, growing impatient, he snapped at Katrina

But Katrina stood her ground, refusing to budge. He shoved her, but she clung to his arm

Micah, have you no shame? Ivy’s done with you. Just seeing you makes her sick. Why can’t you let it go?”

You don’t know anything!Micah’s voice was thick with selfrighteous indignation. Emma lied to me! I’m going to win Ivy back. She’ll fall in love with me again, you’ll see!”

In your dreams! Ivy would rather stay single forever than get back together with you!”

Inside the elevator, Ivy’s nerves were frayed. She could still hear their arguing echoing faintly through the doors. Worried Katrina might get hurt, she pulled out her phone, torn between calling the police or Jamison

If she called the cops, they’d just tell Micah to leavebut that wouldn’t stop him from coming

back

But if she called Jamison…

She was sure Jamison would know how to make Micah disappear for a few days

At least she’d have some peace and quiet

Stepping out of the elevator, Ivy bit her lip and dialed Jamison’s number

She didn’t care if things between them had ended on a bad note yesterdayright now, she needed help

But the phone just rang and rang; no answer.

Her resolve began to waver. After how they’d argued yesterday, was this his way of cutting her off for good? Was he ignoring her calls now

The thought stung. Feeling foolish, she moved to hang up

But just as she was about to disconnect, the call suddenly went through

For a moment, Ivy hesitated, staring at her screen

Should she call again? Or just let it go

She almost called Katrina instead, thinking maybe Micah had left by now and she wouldn’t have to bother Jamison after all

But just as she opened her call log, the screen changedJamison was calling her back

Biting her lip, Ivy stared at the phone, torn and uncertain

If he was calling back, maybe yesterday hadn’t mattered to him after all

Whatever, she thought. This was about the problem at hand; she had no energy for emotional messes right now

She answered. Hello?”

Is something wrong?Jamison’s voice was brisk. He was making his morning rounds at the hospitalhe’d started early today. When his phone had rung earlier, he’d been with a patient and couldn’t answer. But seeing Ivy’s name, he’d called back at the first opportunity

He was still surprised, thoughafter how things ended yesterday, he hadn’t expected her to call first. Maybe she felt bad about lashing out and wanted to apologize

But Ivy’s tone was sharp and cold. Your nephew has been camped outside my apartment since yesterday. I called the police and it didn’t helpnow he’s back again first thing in the morning. Are you going to do something about this or not?”

He was the one who’d said, if Micah ever bothered her again, she should call him

So Ivy had every right to demand his help

Jamison’s brow furrowed. He was swamped with work, but this was his responsibility

Alright. I’ll send someone over right away.”

I hope when I get back, I never have to see him again.”
