Chapter 3
She wandered aimlessly until she reached the back of the villa, where the ashes of Jose were
buried.
A small tree had grown beside his ashes, lush and tall, standing proudly like a pine tree.If Jose were still alive,he would probably have grown up to be just as vibrant and full of life as this tree.
Lost in her thoughts, she quickly wiped her tears when she heard footsteps approaching from behind.
It was definitely something that Tyson and Carol used to taunt her. When she and Luke got married, both of them strongly disagreed. Luke was stubborn and it took an entire month of conflict before things finally calmed down.
Later, when Jose passed away, they didn’t even hesitate to force Zelea to sign the divorce agreement.
The hatred was palpable.
Zelea turned her head, but to her surprise, she saw Sovia.
Sovia deliberately placed her hand on her still–flat abdomen, walking up to her with a feigned seriousness.“I never expected you’d come back. You are a murderer, you are not even worthy of being the young mistress of the Gritorn Family.”
A flash of malice crossed her eyes as she crouched down, spitting on Jose’s grave.
“That little brat buried in the yard is really bad luck.I’ve never liked him. Is it possible that the ashes inside were thrown away long ago and replaced with dog bones?”
Sovia’s words dragged on,each syllable hitting Zelea’s heart like a heavy blow. Her breath grew shallow, panic seizing her entirely.
Ignoring the pain from the wounds on her fingers, she frantically dug through the pile of dirt, desperate to unearth Jose’s remains.
The cobalt–blue porcelain urn was covered in damp earth.Zelea held it as if it were a treasure, but before she could open it,Sovia stopped her.
“Zelea,l know you love your son deeply, but Jose has been dead for so long. What you’re doing now is really disrespecting the deceased, “Sovia said, but her grip on Zelea’s hand tightened with each word.
“Get away!“Zelea could no longer listen to her, ignoring her obstruction and opening the urn. The gray–white powder inside was indistinguishable, whether it was human or animal. “Zelea! Are you out of your mind?Who gave you permission to touch Jose’s ashes?“Luke’s face changed drastically. Panicked, he rushed to her side and snatched the urn from her hands.
At this moment,he finally noticed Sovia, who had been knocked over.
“I’m sorry,Mr. Gritorn,it’s my fault for not stopping her. If you need to blame someone, blame me!“Sovia said, trying to cover up her involvement.
Hearing the commotion,Luke’s parents hurried over, supporting Sovia. They were terrified that something might have happened to their grandchild. When they saw that Jose’s ashes had been dug up,they trembled with fury.

“This is outrageous! You’re insane! Even after death, you still won’t leave people in peace!“they shouted.
Only then Zelea, dazed and confused, realized she had fallen into Sovia’s trap, but it was too late.
Luke kicked her aside, ordered for her to be locked up and then took Sovia to the hospital for an examination.
In the empty villa, the silence was so profound that even the fall of a pin could be heard.
Zelea sat in her bedroom, rummaging through her belongings for a long time.
Her things had long been packed away by the servants into a box. But it was fine. This way,it would be easier for her to get rid of everything.
In the corner,an album slipped out. The photos of her and Jose were now worn and faded from being constantly touched.
Did Luke still think of her?
She unconsciously curled the corner of her lips into a faint smile, but soon, she regained her composure and forced herself to calm down.
Given her current identity, thinking about these things was pointless.
She cut out the photo of herself and Jose and put it in her pocket, then threw the rest of the things into the trash.
In four days, she would truly become a“dead person.“There was no need to keep these things
anymore.
