Luke was stunned,not expecting it to be like this.
Seeing the butler’s fearful expression only made him feel inexplicably heartbroken.
Could it be that,in their eyes,he was so heartless?
“Forget it,“he waved his hand. “You’ve done well in taking care of her. I’ll give you an extra month‘ salary.”
He was left alone,staring at the packaging bag in his hands.
Zelea had been pampered since childhood,never having to endure any hardship.
Even when the family fell into hard times,she never begged anyone for help,always maintaining her proud demeanor.
It was Luke who stepped in at the critical moment,taking on her debts and preserving her last shred of dignity.
Soon after they married,they had Jose.
Later,the child was accidentally strangled to death.
He loved her,yet hated her.
Luke couldn’t understand. How could she,who loved Jose so much,have killed him by accident?
He had countless reasons to convince his parents,but when he saw the autopsy report,he completely broke down.
Jose had indeed died at her hands.
For the past six years, he had hated her deeply,yet secretly watched her outside the prison,hiding it from his family.
He would spend their wedding anniversary alone,buy a birthday cake for his son and rush to the prison the moment she was released.
Each time,he wanted to press her to the bone,to demand why she had done such a thing.
Behind his hatred was love that slowly unraveled,
It was him who had hurt her.
Luke’s expression was stiff and blank as he flipped through the foreign news,looking at the smile on Zelea’s face. Deep down, he had to admit a fact.
Perhaps,she would live better by his side.
But what about him?
Luke thought back and forth,still silently boarding a plane to the foreign country.
However,this time,he didn’t act rashly.
Instead,he took out 5% of the company’s shares and invested,silently guarding her in his heart.
As long as she could be happy,he would stay behind the scenes and never appear again.
What he got,however, was a record of the transfer being refunded.
Zelea had rejected him again.

It was the handling fee.
Did she really want to humiliate him like this?Was she not even going to give him a chance to make it right?
A surge of anger rose in Luke’s heart as he once again transferred the money.
Less than a minute later,it was back in his account.
He transferred it again. And again,it was refunded.
On the third try,the other party directly closed the account.
Luke slammed his fist onto the desk,his chest heaving with anger.
She wouldn’t even give him a chance. What else could he do to win back her heart?
The office door was pushed open.
He flipped through the documents the secretary had handed him and his furrowed brow finally relaxed as he cast an approving glance.“You did well on this matter.”
It was about an overseas jewelry exhibition.
This exhibition featured jewelry passed down through aristocratic families, including pieces from Louis XIV.The Keith Family would definitely attend and since Zelea was one of the designers,she might also be present.
He didn’t want to miss any opportunity.
Luke submitted his qualification application and soon received the organizer’s approval.
He drove to the mall to have a suit custom–made and carefully prepared a gift. He was so excited that he couldn’t sleep the whole night,eagerly awaiting the exhibition.
