My steps faltered. A small child, all alone in a strange, dark parking garage. My first instinct was to go to him, to scoop him into my arms.
But before I could move, a man in a black suit stepped out from the van. He shot me a wary glance before swiftly lifting the boy back inside.
The door clicked shut.
I just barely heard the child’s soft, slurred words: “…Where’s Daddy?”
