I latched onto a key detail. He said the System had teamed up with Logan.
I gripped Damian’s arm. “How do you know all of this?”
His eyes dropped to my hand on his arm. He seemed to like it, leaning back slightly against the stairs.
He uttered a few chilling words. “Because Logan is in my hands right now.”

head back, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “You vanished too cleanly. Then one day, I realized I was being force to forget you.”
“It was like someone was trying to take an eraser to every memory I had of you.” Damian said, “But I wouldn‘ let them.” A wild, almost manic smile flickered across his face. “I used pain to keep myself awake. I didn‘ dare sleep. I was terrified that if I did, I would wake up and not remember you at all.”
