“If you really have no feelings for me, then why have you been targeting Virelle behind my back? You never cared before, did
you?”
There were countless women around Erevan, and I was always the one cleaning up the mess, time and again.
Those other women only swarmed around him, but only Virelle saw me as her top rival, framing and slandering me at every
turn.
It made Erevan believe that I cared about Virelle’s existence.
He brought out evidence, trying to prove that I loved him.
But what was love? I didn’t even know.
No one had ever taught me.
By the time I realized the vague feelings I had for Elian, he was already gone.
Seeing my silence, Erevan stopped speaking.
His eyes were bloodshot, and finally, he asked me.
“Liora, why didn’t you tell me this earlier?”
“Because… it would hurt you.”
His Adam’s apple moved as he swallowed hard, but when he met my calm gaze, he didn’t need to ask again.
Elian’s death had shattered me, leaving me in unbearable despair.
If Erevan knew, it would hurt him too.
Elian wouldn’t want to see that.
That was the reason.
After Erevan left, others were ordered to make a grand effort to retrieve the moonstone ring from the lake.
He had already found out through the diary that it was Elian’s memento.
He even took the diary with him.
I didn’t know what Elian had written in it, or if he had ever mentioned me.
I spent every day with the workers, searching the lake.
Once again, exhausted, I collapsed on the shore. Erevan, surprisingly, was there, shedding his coat and forcefully draping it over my shoulders.
He was so angry that he gritted his teeth.
“Liora, do you really have no regard for your life?”
He hoisted me onto his shoulder and carried me back to the hotel. My brain was foggy, and I had no strength to struggle.

He tried to change me into dry clothes, but when he saw the new and old scars crisscrossing my body, he froze in shock completely.
Breathing heavily, he sent me to the hospital, calling in the director of the pack hospital and all the specialists for a full
examination for me.
The results nearly crushed his hands as he held the thin diagnosis report.
Sitting by my bedside, Erevan saw me feel comfortable and cough suddenly. I blinked my eyes open, dazed.
He hurriedly poured me a cup of warm water, checked the temperature, and gently fed it to me.
His actions were so tender, I was momentarily disoriented, thinking Elian had returned.
I reached out and wrapped my arms around him.
“Elian, I miss you so much.”
Erevan’s body stiffened in an instant, feeling the wetness of my tears against his chest.
His gaze dimmed, but he still managed to squeeze out a response.
“I’m here, Liora. Don’t cry, or I’ll be heartbroken.”
