Nathan’s eyes were bloodshot with panic.“Is your heart…acting up again? Don’t be scared…I’m here. I’m right…”
Before he could utter another word,Collins stepped between us. Although he was smiling,his hand stopped him like an iron clamp.
“Mr.Campbell.“His tone was playful.“This is a hospital,please behave.”
He wrapped his hand around my shoulder and deliberately hugged me.“Isn’t it inappropriate for you to make a move on my girlfriend?”
Nathan’s face turned gloomy.
“We’re not divorced yet.“He said coldly,“What kind of boyfriend are you?”
Collins smiled when he heard this. He looked smug. “Oh?So you cheated on her during your marriage,signed the divorce papers,drove her away….and now you have the nerve to call yourself her husband?”
Collins leaned down and kissed Laurissa’s cheek. He deliberately drawled his words, “What? You can cheat on your wife in marriage,but Laurie can’t find a boyfriend…to have some fun with?”
My heart“stomped” as heat rushed to my face.
I was just annoyed that I ran into Nathan out of the blue and hadn’t figured out how to react.
Collins’words paired with the words” for fun“just made me want to burrow into the ground on the
spot.
“You!“Nathan lunged forward.“You dare to touch her?”
“Why wouldn’t I?“Collins purposely shielded me tighter.“What are you?She doesn’t even want you anymore,but you’re like a mad dog,biting people quite hard.”
“Let her go!“Nathan gritted his teeth.
‘Are you in a position to say that?“Collins’eyes were cold.“She’s my girlfriend now.”
At that moment, Nathan completely broke his defenses.
He looked at my cool face and didn’t say a word,but he didn’t avoid Collins’movements either.
He suddenly felt that I wasn’t coming to him because I couldn’t let go,because I simply didn’t want to waste any more time.
He finally got a taste of the retribution for pushing people away over and over again.
Whereas I was just annoyed to meet Nathan, Collins‘ maneuver turned the scene completely upside down.I almost choked on his “having fun“comment.
Man,he was going out of his way to make me look good. He’s like a male model.
Nathan’s eyes fluttered with shock and with the sound of Collins“play“still ringing in his ears,he took a step forward,his voice so low it was almost pleading.
“Laurie,don’t listen to his blabbering. It’s not like that between us,you know that,right?How can we just let it go?”
He locked his eyes with mine,as if he were afraid I would turn around and leave if he did not. “Can we talk…for a moment?Just for a while…okay?”

“I just want to talk properly with you.“He paused af if the words stuck in his throat.“It can’t end between us like this….”
Before I could answer,the sound of rapid footsteps echoed down the corridor.
“Madam!”
A familiar,piercing voice crossed the hallway,carrying a sob and urgency.
Alicia ran over with her baby in her arms. She looked panicked. As soon as she arrived in front of me,she fell to her knees with a thud.This movement made the baby,whom she held in a death grip,shake violently. His cry sounded all over the corridor.
“Madam,I’m sorry!It’s all my fault.I was wrong… it was my fault.I momentarily lost my mind because of my obsession…”
She looked up at me. Her tears fell continuously, her face was pale and smudges of lipstick on the corners of her lips.
“Please,don’t leave the house. Come back,please. President Campbell hasn’t had a good sleep for days,looking for you….”
