I laughed. I said the cruellest thing in the calmest voice.
“You just think Tammy and her baby matter more.”
Toby was stunned for a moment. Unable to deny it, he slapped himself across the face hard.
The sound echoed through the night. Tammy and Amy, who had followed the noise, came running toward us.
Tammy was the first to lash out. She slammed into me, shoving me hard.
“You’re crazy, Stacy! It is bad enough you are clinging to Toby. Now you are trying to hurt him?”
I was still weak from surgery, and I could not hold my ground. My body crashed into a tree with the impact.
Toby flinched, stumbling as he tried to rush toward me, but Amy held him back.
“Don’t, Toby! She still won’t admit she’s wrong. Stacy deserves this!”
Tammy stood protectively in front of him, baring her teeth at me like a wolf ready to attack…..……
“This is your final warning. Stay away from Toby. Hurt him again, and I swear, I’ll end
you!”
I laughed.
As I watched Tammy, heavily pregnant, shielding Toby with her entire body, I finally understood that there was something between them I could never grasp.
He could abandon his own child for her, and she would charge forward, baby and all, just to
protect him.
Yeah, I was an outsider all along.

However, before Tammy could finish, Toby shoved her aside and violently tore his arm
from Amy’s grasp. He ran to me, trying to help me up from the ground.
“Are you okay? Did you hit something? Where does it hurt?”
I slapped his hand away, forcing myself up on my own.
“Don’t touch me. Get away from me.”
“Stacy, please, you just lost the baby. You’re weak… let me help.”
Both Tammy and Amy lit up with satisfaction when they heard that.
Amy even came forward and tried to pull him away.

“Toby, leave her. Let’s go home. Her bastard’s gone now. She has no excuse to hang around anymore. You can finally bond with Tammy and do the Marking Ceremony.”
The moment she said that Toby snapped. He slapped her hard.
His jaw clenched. His veins bulging in his neck as he hissed, “Who told you Stacy’s baby was a bastard? Who told you that?!”
Fuelled by rage and frustration, he seized Amy’s collar, like a beast driven mad.

With a violent shove, Amy was thrown to the ground like a rag doll.
She stared up in shock, then turned to Tammy, only to see her looking away, guilty.
Only then did Amy realise that Tammy lied to her.

“You lied to me! You said Stacy cheated–that the baby wasn’t Toby’s! You tricked me!”
Tammy clutched her belly, barely dodging Amy’s blows.
“You were the one dumb enough to believe it! Don’t blame me!
“And anyway, I am the one Toby’s supposed to mate with! Once he became the father of my
baby, Stacy’s kid was a bastard no matter what…”
Before she could finish, Toby stormed forward and slapped her, too.
That was the moment everything became clear.
Tammy orchestrated all of this.
No wonder Amy was so sure my baby was not Toby’s the first time she saw me.
Once Toby realized that Tammy did not need help but had been scheming all along to tear us apart, he was so furious his teeth were practically grinding.
“You are done, Tammy. Your baby is the bastard, not mine! I am not his father! And I will never bond with you! My mate is Stacy. Only Stacy!“,
He cast a cold, scornful glance at Tammy. However, she threw herself at him, sobbing and clutching desperately at his pants leg.
