Because of this, the lucky players who managed to escape alive were left in tears, scrambling to use every connection they had to track me down.
In just a few days, my name had become legendary at the haunted hotel.
When the hotel boss called me again, his tone caught me off guard.
Practically begging, he said, “Please, I’m on my knees here. When can you come back to work? I can’t do this without you, and the hotel can’t survive without you either. If you don’t come back soon, I don’t think I’ll make it…”
I glanced over at my mother, who was lying in bed.
It had been a week since her surgery, and she was finally able to get out of bed without issue.
I felt guilty for being away from work for so long.
After all, I needed to make money to support us.
So, I said, “Tomorrow. I’ll make my mom breakfast in the morning, let her know, and then I’ll come in.”
The hotel boss eagerly agreed. “Great, great! I’ll be waiting for you. I’ve already taken care of all your benefits, so don’t worry and just focus on your work.”
This hotel boss was generous with pay, considerate of his employees, and apart from being a little naggy, he didn’t have a single flaw. I felt genuinely touched.
The next morning, I prepared breakfast for my mom and told her I was going back to work.
She nodded without much expression.
I knew she still didn’t believe there was such a thing as a haunted hotel.

She hadn’t realized what had happened yet, her expression shifting between shock and anger. “What kind of place is this?!”
Meanwhile, the hotel boss was waiting at the entrance. The moment he saw me, his almost filled with tears.
“Oh, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting forever!”
He quickly pinned the “Receptionist” badge onto my chest.
Then, noticing my mom, he froze for a moment.

After I introduced them to each other, his face lit up in understanding, a broad grin spreading across his face.
“You have no idea how amazing your daughter is! Her performance is outstanding. Our hotel can’t function without her!”
My mom stared at me in silence, muttering something under her breath that I couldn’t quite catch.
The hotel boss pushed me into my chair at the front desk. As the players began to arrive, I immediately switched into work mode, flashing a bright smile that showed all eight of my
teeth.
“Hello there, cutie. Welcome to the haunted hotel.”
The player stared at me, stunned, and then suddenly burst into tears.
“You’re finally back at work! I almost got crushed to death by those game bosses the past few days!”
I was completely baffled.
As soon as other players saw me, their expressions changed instantly. One of them excitedly turned to the crowd behind them and shouted, “She’s here! She’s finally here for us!”
Another player confirmed it, equally thrilled. “Yes, it’s really her!”
From the back, someone gasped in disbelief, “Oh my god, what kind of luck is this? Lady Luck herself just showed up!”
Another player cried out, “Thank goodness! Maybe we won’t die today!”

It was like a wave, spreading through the crowd from front to back.
