Anastasia froze, staring up at Cassian as her breathing gradually slowed.
“What should I do?” Cassian’s voice was husky as he gazed down at her, his dark eyes like twin whirlpools threatening to pull her in completely.
“In?” Anastasia looked at him in confusion.
“It’s all your fault.” Cassian said slowly.
Before Anastasia could process what he meant, he was kissing her again….
By the time Anastasia and Cassian snuck out of their room, Elisabeth had already left. There was breakfast on the table along with a note in Elisabeth’s elegant handwriting: “Gone grocery shopping. Remember to eat breakfast before work.”
“I want to buy Grandma a car. When we’re not around, she has to take public transport everywhere, which isn’t convenient,”
Anastasia said.
“Good idea. I’ll come with you to pick one out,” Cassian replied.
“Aren’t you going to ask if Grandma can even drive?” Anastasia laughed.
Cassian looked at her with amusement. “Why would you buy a car if she couldn’t drive? That would just be a waste of space.”
This was exactly how Anastasia had rejected his offer to buy her a better car before. She’d said she already had one and only needed it for commuting, so she didn’t need anything expensive.
Anastasia had originally planned to give Elisabeth her current car since she usually rode to work with Cassian anyway.
But Elisabeth thought gas cars were too expensive to run–she wanted an electric vehicle.
“Grama got her license when she was really young and has been driving ever since. Later, when Grandpa got sick and

“Grandma loves driving and going for scenic drives. Even though she’s over seventy now, she gets annual check–ups and passes all the tests. Her license is still valid.”
Cassian pulled Anastasia closer. “I won’t let anything like that happen again.”
Anastasia made a noncommittal sound.
In her experience, no one’s promises were reliable–you could only count on yourself.
Sharpson had once sworn to take care of her mother and their family too. But when her grandfather fell ill and needed money, Sharpson had made excuses and refused to help.
People showed their true colors when times got tough.
After work, Anastasia went home to take Elisabeth car shopping.

Elisabeth had actually spotted a car she liked here. The style and performance appealed to her, and she wanted to test drive it.
A salesperson approached them, looking them up and down coldly. “Can you even afford these? Don’t touch what you can’t buy.
“How can we know if it’s suitable without a test drive? If it’s not right, we won’t buy it no matter how expensive,” Anastasia replied.
The salesperson looked Anastasia over mockingly. “Poor people with big attitudes. Do you know how much these cars cost? Even the base models start at over thirty thousand. Is that something people like you can afford?”
“Even if I had money, I wouldn’t buy from you. The commission definitely wouldn’t be yours,” Anastasia shot back.
“You…” The salesperson’s face reddened with anger.
Just then, another female salesperson approached. “Ladies, if you don’t mind, could you tell me what type of car you’re interested in, what you’ll use it for, and your budget? I’d be happy to make some recommendations.”
“That sounds great,” Anastasia said.
The male salesperson said to the female one, “Tom, are you sure you want to take this one?”
smile stiffened as she looked at him. “John, you didn’t seem to be hitting it off with these customers, so I thought I’d help lighten your load.”
John snorted. “A newbie wanting to help me out! Don’t come crying to me for help later.”
Tom smiled awkwardly and led Anastasia and Elisabeth away.
Tom showed them several models, and Elisabeth test drove a few.
Anastasia pulled Tom aside and whispered, “When my grandmother asks about prices later, quote them low–say around fifteen thousand. I’ll pay you the full amount. Just make up some promotion to make her believe it.”
Tom hesitantly agreed. “I’ll do my best.”
“Anastasia, both of these are nice. Which do you think would be better?” Elisabeth asked.

“I think they’re both great, but this one seems more suitable for you.” Anastasia replied.
“This is a hybrid vehicle. The electric motor provides power at low speeds and startup, reducing the engine’s workload and improving fuel efficiency…” Tom patiently explained.
Even though they’d looked at many cars without deciding, Tom remained patient and helpful.
Anastasia finally decided on a seventy–five thousand dollar model.
As Tom was taking Anastasia to finalize the paperwork, John intercepted them.
“Wait, did you say she’s buying that seventy–five thousand dollar domestic car?”
Anastasia gave John a cool look. “Sorry, can’t afford the imports, but domestics are within our budget.”
John’s face cycled through several shades, looking thoroughly humiliated.
“Tom, come here for a second.”
Tom’s smile froze as she looked reluctantly at John.
She’d heard that John liked to steal sales.
John caught on to her thinking and snorted. “Fine, just wait and see.”
After John walked away, Tom quietly sighed with relief. “Ms. Kingsley, I’m sorry you had to see that.”
“It’s fine. Is he always like this?” Anastasia asked.
Tom’s eyes flickered–she didn’t want to complain about colleagues in front of customers, as it would reflect poorly on the entire dealership.
She just smiled. “He’s okay.”
m, the contract printer isn’t working. The manager wants to see you.”
“What?”
“I… I’ll go right now.” Tom smiled apologetically at Anastasia and reluctantly left.
As soon as Tom was gone, John appeared with a fake smile. “Ms. Kingsley, let me help you finish the purchase contract.”
“Ms. Kingsley, do you need financing? Car loans are quite advantageous right now–zero down payment, low interest rates…”
Anastasia held up her hand to stop him. “Hold on.”
