Jasper was convinced Ana was just putting on an act. Back when he was in a rare good mood helping her peel fruit and accidentally cut his finger, Ana would worry about him for ages.
How could she possibly be so indifferent seeing him hurt like this now?
“Ana, I’m in so much pain,” he said.
Ana finally reacted–she gave Jasper a cold glance and said, “If you’re in pain, go see a doctor. Don’t just lie there blocking the path.”
Jasper frowned. He never expected to hear words like that from Ana!
“Ana, I know you’re just pretending. You still care about me, don’t you? I can see through your angry act. I understand now how much pain I feel without you. Please forgive me? Can we start over?” Jasper said, his eyes reddening as if he was about to cry, his voice breaking by the end. “I really can’t live without you! Could all our years together really mean less than the few months you’ve had with him?”
Cassian’s grip on Ana’s hand suddenly tightened.
Ana looked at Cassian and smiled reassuringly, as if comforting him and telling him not to worry.
“The depth of feelings isn’t limited by time, and loving someone doesn’t need time to prove it,” Ana told Jasper. “If you really loved me as much as you claim, you wouldn’t have been fooling around with other women. And don’t give me that ‘just
playing around‘ or ‘blowing off steam‘ bullshit, like it’s some kind of video game. It’s not the same thing at all! I’m a living, breathing person with feelings–not some electronic device!”
“I can’t accept someone who betrayed me and our relationship coming back to tell me it wasn’t intentional! You make me feel dirty and disgusted!”
“Even if I hadn’t chosen Cassian, even if I’d chosen someone else entirely, I still wouldn’t choose you! You disgust me!”
Ana’s eyes were cold as ice, looking at Jasper with zero warmth. “This is the last time I’m telling you this. Since we’ve broken up, have some dignity and stop with all these pathetic stunts.”
“And don’t even think about going after my grandmother, or I won’t let you get away with it!”
Jasper looked like a defeated rooster, completely deflated.
He seemed to hear Ana’s words, but he didn’t want to accept them.
But Ana was done caring whether he accepted it or not. Her mind was made up and wouldn’t change!
Good people don’t go backwards!
“Ana, is this really your final decisión?” Jasper made one last desperate attempt, looking at Ana as if he’d made some kind of resolution.
“That’s right,” Ana said firmly.

Jasper took a deep breath and said through gritted teeth, “I’m calling the cops. I’m reporting Cassian for assault!”
Cassian’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Jasper coldly. “You sure you want to call the police?”
Jasper looked at Cassian and laughed bitterly. “What, you gonna threaten me again? But you threw the first punch today, so even when the cops get here, it won’t matter!”
“Be my guest,” Cassian said.
Though Jasper felt uneasy, sensing Cassian might be planning something, he didn’t want to look weak in front of Ana.
Jasper gritted his teeth and called the police.
Ana and Cassian pulled up chairs and sat by the entrance, watching Jasper lie on the ground playing victim.
The police arrived quickly. After hearing Jasper’s complaint, they asked to see the security footage.
But the manager said the cameras near the haunted house had been broken for several days and hadn’t recorded anything.
The police were skeptical and demanded to check.
But it was exactly as the manager had said–there was absolutely no footage captured.

“Next time don’t waste police resources. Filing false reports is illegal,” Cassian said.
Cassian insisted he hadn’t hit Jasper, and even if he had, Jasper had thrown the first punch.
Jasper was furious. He’d thought this would surely turn things around for him, but instead…
“Cassian, do you have no shame?” Jasper glared at Cassian like he wanted to burn holes through him.
“Nope, don’t need any. You don’t have any either, so consider it a gift,” Cassian replied.
“You-”
“Officers, since there are no witnesses or evidence, can I go now?”
“Yes, you can leave.”
Cassian left with Ana, completely ignoring Jasper’s intense stare following them.
Soon after, Cassian’s phone rang. It was Theo calling.
Cassian hit speakerphone. “Talk fast or get lost.”
“Damn, look who’s turned into a deadbeat,” Theo said.
Cassian was surprised the news had traveled so fast that it had already reached Theo.
“Bad signal here. Gotta go,” Cassian said.

Just then, the sound of a woman’s sultry moaning came through from Theo’s end, making anyone listening blush.
“Sounds like you’re busy, I won’t interrupt,” Cassian said.
Before Theo could respond, Cassian hung up.
Theo kicked the couch and cursed. “Fuck! Who’s got bad signal? You could hear that crystal clear!”
Thee looked at Aurora, who was passed out drunk like a puddle of mud.
This woman spent every day going out to bars under the guise of work, getting wasted and not giving a damn about him!
Tonight she’d collapsed outside a bar, and several guys had been trying to “rescue” her. Good thing he’d found her and brought her back, or things could have gotten messy.
Just then, Aurora suddenly opened her eyes, looked around, and mumbled, “This place looks familiar…”
Theo snorted to himself. Of course it looks familiar–this used to be their love nest.
Aurora suddenly said, “Looks like that bastard’s place. So gross! Why do I have to dream about crap like this? Couldn’t God take pity on me and let me dream about hot guys instead of that piece of shit?”
Theo was livid. Who was the piece of shit? Who exactly was the piece of shit?!
He’d been nice enough to help her, and now he was a piece of shit?
He should’ve just left her there!
Aurora suddenly lunged toward him. “Hot guy…”
Theo straightened up, thinking Aurora at least had good taste.
He was about to speak when Aurora suddenly gagged, “Ugh… why do you look exactly like my disgusting ex–husband? No way, I’m gonna puke… ugh…”
“AURORA!” Theo’s roar nearly shattered the sky. “MY CARPET!”
After dry heaving, Aurora finally felt better and passed out on the floor.
The next morning, Ana was woken up by urgent phone ringing.
She reached for her phone, but before she could see who it was, Cassian irritably snatched it away. “Who the hell’s calling this early, ruining people’s sleep? Hanging up!”
Cassian was grumpy when he didn’t get enough sleep.
“Wait, I think I saw…” Ana started to say.
