After Ana and Cassian returned from their walk, they went back to her grandmother’s house and got ready for bed after taking care of a few things
Just then, Cassian’s phone started vibrating non stop.
Ana glanced at him. “Maybe you should check that. Seems like a lot of people are trying to reach you.”

“Nah, it’s probably just the guys being bored and wanting me to go out drinking.” Cassian said dismissively.
“Why would I want to go out drinking when I could be cuddling with my wife instead?” He pulled Ana into his arms and turned off his phone.
Ana nestled into his embrace with a smile, thinking to herself: They were still in the honeymoon phase, so it was natural for Cassian to be clingy, just like Jasper had been in the beginning. But once the novelty wore off… well, that remained to be seen.
Yinsen: Where the hell is Cassian? I’ve tagged him like twenty times and he hasn’t said a word.
Griffin: Yinsen, you idiot. If Cassian’s not responding, it means he’s with his wife and can’t be bothered with you. Keep harassing him and he’ll block
your ass.
Yinsen: Screw you. Cassian and I go way back–there’s no way he’d block me over something like this.
Theo: You’re better off hitting me up. I’m always free. Where are we meeting? I’ll be right there.
Theo: Look, Cassian might be married, but he’s still in the honeymoon phase, so of course he’s glued to his wife. Once the novelty wears off, we’ll see if
he comes out to play.
Yinsen: Wait, Theo, didn’t you used to follow Aurora around like a lost puppy? You were stuck to her like glue wherever she went. What happened to
that? Let me think…
Theo: Yinsen, you really are an idiot.
Yinsen: Hey, no name–calling for no reason!
Theo: Are you even human?
When her grandmother woke up, she had the vague feeling that something was different.
Suddenly, she noticed that the door to Ana’s old room was closed.
She froze, thinking, Oh no, did we have a break–in?
Just as she was about to check the door, she spotted a note on the dining table held down by a bowl. In bold, confident handwriting, it read: Grandma, Ana and I were walking around the neighborhood last night and lost track of time. We were too tired to drive home safely, so we stayed here. Sorry for the intrusion.
Looking at Cassian’s handwriting, her grandmother thought that his penmanship really did reflect his character–elegant writing from a good man.

He’d been thoughtful enough to leave a note, knowing she was an early riser and might be startled.
By the time Cassian and Ana got up, her grandmother had already prepared breakfast. Since Cassian was there, she’d made it extra special–scrambled eggs with herbs, fresh toast, crispy bacon, and some fresh fruit with Greek yogurt.
“Good morning, Grandma,” Cassian greeted her as soon as he emerged.
Her grandmother smiled back. “Good morning, Cassian. How did you sleep? Were you comfortable?”
Despite her calm inquiry, she was actually quite nervous inside.
Cassian answered naturally, “Very well, thank you. It was very comfortable.”
