When Knox learned his legs would never recover, there was indeed a moment of inner collapse.
But having weathered many storms in his life, he quickly regained his composure.
As his mind calmed, Raelyn kept appearing in his thoughts. Images of his past confessions to Raelyn flashed one by

Knox shook his head.
He was the one who had rejected Raelyn first.
Yet now he couldn’t stop thinking about her, remembering only her good qualities.
His assistant reminded him:
“Lord Kingston, you previously said you wanted to marry Miss Skylar. The wedding preparations are almost complete.”
“But considering your health, should we postpone it for a while?”
At the thought of Skylar, his furrowed brow relaxed.
He smiled and said: “It’s fine. The wedding will proceed as planned, but I need to reveal my identity to Skylar first.”
Seated in his wheelchair, he was pushed out of the hospital by his bodyguard.
Just as he entered the house, Knox heard Skylar’s voice coming from the study.
“Brother, please help me.”
Knox didn’t know what trouble she’d gotten into and was about to push the door open to ask.
But the next sentence rooted him to the spot.
“You’re the one who insisted on getting involved with him. Now that you know he’s disabled, you don’t want him
anymore?”
Disabled? Were they talking about him?
Skylar’s wheedling voice continued:
“Brother, you know very well that i was only after his body before. When the Blackstone family first proposed the marriage, didn’t I dump him immediately?”
“Knox is just a poor nobody. What’s his status compared to our Winters family? Only an idiot like Raelyn would marry a man like that.”

Knox jerked his head up.
Inside, Julian seemed equally incredulous, asking loudly: “What do you mean? What did you take from Raelyn?”
Skylar continued nonchalantly: “Why are you so surprised? I thought you all knew.”
“I signed a bet with Raelyn back then. If I could take nine things she cared about, she would cut ties with all of you.”
“Knox was the last thing Raelyn cared about.”
“Don’t you also dislike Raelyn? This way, I don’t hurt Mom and Dad’s feelings, Raelyn doesn’t get any share of the family wealth, and everyone’s happy.”
Julian’s voice was strained: “So, so Raelyn never took anything from you. It was you who kept taking from her?”
Knox closed his eyes tightly.
He feared he couldn’t hide his murderous intent.
He had thought he was using Raelyn to make Skylar jealous, to force her to yield.
But it turned out, Skylar was using him to drive Raelyn away.
Among the three of them, the most innocent was actually Raelyn.
The bodyguard asked coldly: “Lord Kingston, shall we burst in?”
“No,” Knox opened his eyes, his tone icy: “Not only should we not let them discover us, but continue with the wedding preparations with Skylar. Understand?”
