Alaric’s eyes darkened, his expression unreadable. After a long, heavy silence, he gave a cold, low command, “Find a way to get a paternity test.”
Three days later, the results hit him like a bolt of lightning from a clear sky.
Probability of a biological relationship: 0%.
Alaric slammed the report to the ground. Pages scattered everywhere.
“Good. Ruby. Very good.”
He picked up his phone and called his assistant.
“Throw Ruby the grandest birthday party possible. I want to give her a real surprise.”
On Ruby’s birthday, Alaric pulled out all the stops.
The party was extravagant, Hermès bags, Cartier jewelry stacked like towers.
Ruby grinned from ear to ear.
Ever since giving birth to the so–called Middleton Family heir, she had leveraged Alaric’s wealth and status to become a social media star with over a million followers.
“These are all birthday gifts from my baby’s father~” she cooed to the camera, livestreaming proudly as she flaunted a diamond necklace.
Just as she was smugly holding the necklace up to the screen, the massive LED display behind her suddenly lit up.
The party hall fell deathly silent. Then came wave after wave of shocked gasps.
Ruby turned to look and froze. Her delicate makeup couldn’t hide the color draining from her face.
Clink.
The diamond necklace slipped from her fingers and hits the floor.
Her lips trembled.
“T–this, this isn’t real…” she stammered.
On screen, a video played of her cuddled up in another man’s arms.
“Russel, thanks to you for planning that kidnapping stunt. That idiot Alaric definitely blames his wife now.”
“That woman probably drowned in the sea already. From now on, I am the rightful Leah.”
The air in the hall seemed to freeze.
All eyes were glued to the screen, watching the intimate footage unfold in a teahouse’s private room.
“Once our son secures his place in the Middleton Family…”
The man, Russel, was clearly drunk, his voice loud and lecherous as he groped Ruby’s
waist.

“No! That’s not me!” Ruby suddenly shrieked. “It’s fake! Someone’s trying to frame me, turn
it off! Shut it off!”
She lunged toward the control booth, one high heel flying off mid–sprint.
But there he was, Alaric’s assistant standing calmly by the console, expressionless, remote
in hand.
Leah took one look at the screen… and fainted on the spot.
Chaos erupted.
Reporters furiously snapped photos, their flashes lighting up the room like a thunderstorm.
The livestream view count skyrocketed past 10 million, with comments flooding the
screen:
“Scandal of the year!”
“Fake kidnapping to steal a CEO?!”
“This influencer’s reputation is done.”
In the following days, headlines like:
“The Middleton Family’s Biggest Scandal” “Fake Kidnapping Plot to Climb the Ladder” dominated every trending topic.
Ruby’s carefully built public image crumbled overnight.
Outside the Middleton Family estate, Ruby knelt on the icy tiles, sobbing uncontrollably.
“Alaric! Please, for the child’s sake, forgive me!”
But the grand gates remained firmly shut.
Moments later, a familiar black Maybach slowly rolled into view.
As if seeing a lifeline, Ruby threw herself at the car before it even stopped.
Before Alaric could exit, she was already clinging tightly to his leg.
“Mr. Alaric! Please, give me one last chance! Everyone’s avoiding me now.”
He gripped her chin tightly, his eyes colder than ice.
“Leaving you alive is already an act of mercy.”
Then he leaned down and whispered at her ear in a low voice and threatening, “I hear you have a younger brother in elementary school?”
