The child husbands looked around at each other, stunned.

Now that everything was out in the open, it hit them–none of them had ever been Sloane’s “only one“. They weren’t special. They were just one of her pets, kept

in rotation.

“Damn it! She played all of us!”

“I thought the rest of you were just crushing on her, and I was the one who actually got her… Turns out she was screwing everyone!”

“This is insane. She ran the same playbook on all of us!”

“That bitch! I gave up Aury for her. I gave up everything! How could she do this to me?”

Their fury boiled over. In the next second, the group of young men, all of them strong and seething, rushed at Sloane in a blind rage, fists flying. They beat her, kicked her, and punched her until she was covered in blood.

But even that wasn’t enough. At that moment, nothing short of beating her to death could ease the hatred burning in their hearts.

In the end, it was Harrison who, fearing they might actually kill her, ordered the maids to stop them.

“Mr. Vance, no! Don’t stop me!” Milo shouted, trying to shove past the maids holding him back. “I swear to God, I’ll kill her with my own hands! If it weren’t for her, I would’ve fallen for Aurelia! 

“Aurelia’s amazing. How could I not like her? But before you even adopted me, Sloane got to me. She lied to me. She pretended to be sweet and fragile, told me the world had given up on me, but that she never would.

“She made me believe she was the only one who’d ever love me–the only person who’d never leave me. How was I supposed to resist that?” Milo’s voice cracked, raw with pain.

“I was abandoned as a kid. I don’t care how big the world is or how many people live in it. I just wanted someone to love me. Is that so wrong?”

The other husbands stood there silently, the same hollow look in their eyes. They’d all been through the same thing.

Aurelia was kind. Aurelia was perfect. But she wasn’t an orphan. She didn’t know what it was like to be left behind, to feel like they didn’t matter.

These young men had no family and no friends. Other people still had some connection to the world, but for them, that connection had been severed the moment their parents abandoned them. So, they clung desperately to anything they could–just to prove they were still worthy of love.

And Sloane knew exactly how to exploit that.

Back when Damien and the others had first arrived at the orphanage, she swooped in when they were most vulnerable, took their hands, and promised them that even if the whole world abandoned them, it didn’t matter–because she would still be there for them, and having each other was all they ever needed.

How could broken, lonely young men not fall for that? What they didn’t know was that falling for her would ruin their lives forever.

“That’s enough! If you keep going, someone’s going to die,” Harrison said grimly. “I understand. You’re all furious because Sloane lied to you.

“But today is my daughter’s birthday. She hasn’t wronged any of you. If you’ve got grudges to settle, do it somewhere else. Don’t cause a scene at her birthday banquet and ruin the day for her!”

He paused for a beat. Then, with a commanding gaze, he swept his eyes coldly over the seven child husbands and said icily, “Initially, I’d planned to wait until Aury and Theo were married to make this announcement. But your behavior today absolutely disgusts me.

“Aury was right. The Vance family doesn’t keep leeches around, and we definitely don’t tolerate betrayal. From this day forward, you’re no longer associated with the Vance family.

“Get out. Now.”
