Drielle’s P.O.V.
“Bright?” My breath hitched. He stood there, rigid, the fury on his face unmistakable. His jaw clenched, fingers curled into tight fists at his vides. He wasn’t supposed to be back for another week. So why was he here? My stomach twisted as realization struck–he saw the news.
“Pardon my offense, Mr. Bright. It was all in the past. I have changed.
Now, I am trying…”
Felix boasted about his revolution, calling it his redemption, but Bright didn’t trust his words.
“Drop your act, Felix. I have known you since college. A dog’s tail can be straightened but not you.
You will never change!”
As this conversation crossed the boundary of manners, I chimed in as a moderator.
“Felix is right, Bright. Melody plotted against me and got punished. Felix is striving his best to pay for his criminal negligence.
Shouldn’t we be more compassionate?”
Forcing a warm smile, I spoke gently.
“If someone realizes their mistakes and attempts to repent, we should give him a chance after his painstaking efforts, Bright.
That’s how life goes on beautifully. It’s good to be more flexible.”
I averted my face towards Bright, tricking Felix, and got an immediate result. From the corners of my eyes, I witnessed Felix’s venomous smirk, he mocked Bright by raising his brow.
The vein pulsating on Bright’s forehead gave away his restraint as he formally bid farewell to that sly fox, maintaining his composure. If I were in his place, I would have shown my middle finger to Felix, but Bright’s maturity level was exemplary.
Keeping his anger in check, his voice was devoid of emotions when he voiced his concerns back in my office.
“It’s not my place to comment on your personal matters.
But please, Drielle!
Don’t trust Felix again. He hasn’t changed a bit.”
Bright’s special quality to keep calm despite fury deeply moved my heart. I praised him.
“You can interfere in my personal matters, Mr. Gentleman. I won’t mind.”
Biting my lips with a mischievous grin, I teased Bright, but he rolled his eyes at me.
“Oh, really?
Then what was with that honey–sweet voice and addressing him as Felix, not Mr. Felix?”
What?
Bright’s observation of small details raced my heart, he was certainly jealous of Felix. Overjoyed by this realization, I asked him.
“Am I smelling something sour in the air?.
Oh, it’s you!”
Bright and I looked at each other and burst into a fit of laughter, his improved mood gave me some courage to pour my heart out.
“I don’t have any proof yet, but I strongly believe that Mr. Felix is cooking something behind our backs.

It was just my method to check his next move. I want to be one step ahead from him.”
But Bright thought that it was unsafe to be around Felix, given that he was a wounded lion right now.
“I respect your opinion, Drielle. But you should stay cautious, playing with fire is never advisable in any circumstance.”
Bright promised to trust me, his unwavering support calmed a part of my soul. It was such a blessing to meet him in this decisive phase of my life.
The new contract with Felix was a milestone in our journey, he took part in the legal proceedings to prove his sincerity. His fans protested his demotion, taking it as an offensive move from our side. They were advocating for his old contract as a Diamond category engineer.
Felix’s humble statement was the only thing that could subside their fury.
“I am truly grateful to Miss Drielle and the LB foundation for continuing their collaboration. It may look excessive to my fans, but please remember.
One must lose his most prized possession to express his loyalty. Hopefully, everyone will encourage my vindication.”
All the people watching the live stream of our announcement were spell–bounded by Felix’s heart touching story. He weaved a silk web of twisted narrative, playing with his fan’s emotions. His efforts were widely acknowledged by his followers.
I hadn’t arranged a proper presser, but the media exposure was mind–blowing. My company got remarkable limelight without spending a single
penny.
On the other hand, Felix considered this live stream from my office more intimate, he was all smiles.
“It’s way better than facing nosy journalists, guests, and days of planning for the press conference. It’s indeed a tiring task to be at a formal event.
Look, just a cell phone on a stand, and we all are set here. No doubt, you have taken a great initiative to save time to maximize engineers‘ performance.”
“Of course, engineers should be spared from media hype.” I agreed with him, “They must focus on their work only. It’s their agency’s responsibility to manage a schedule for them.”
Our amiable conversation proceeded with current affairs, discussing upcoming events, Felix mentioned the auction ceremony next weekend.
“Are you going to the charitable auction on Saturday, Miss Drielle?”
I had received the invitation, but I wasn’t feeling like going, so I responded to him honestly.
“It depends on my spare time, Felix. You are aware of my company’s workload.”
As Felix was actively participating in public service events, he began to lecture me about the significance of such gatherings.
“You can ignore other parties, but this auction?” Felix leaned in slightly, his voice a low murmur, almost conspiratorial. “This one is a once–in–a–lifetime opportunity, Miss Drielle.” Something flickered in his gaze–not invitation, but challenge. I smiled back, neutral yet unyielding. “I’ll see if I have time.”
