Lizzie nodded heavily, “Yeah, I talked to Raymond and he’s gonna set up a job for Katherine. She can come back to the city now.”
After confirming it was real, I was so excited that I couldn’t speak. I covered my mouth, and tears silently rolled down my face.
She walked up to Lizzie, choked up, and took a while before saying a word.
“Lizzie… thank you… I wanted to give you my job, but arranging a job for your cousin instead…”

Lizzie saw Glenna crying tears of joy, and she felt happy too!
“Glenna, let’s go to the post office now and give Katherine a call, so she can know earlier and get ready sooner.”
Glenna listened to Lizzie’s clear analysis and understood the stakes.
And of course, she also hoped Katherine would come back soon!

Colton also wanted to go, but Glenna pushed him back, “Where are you going?”
“I want to talk to Katherine too, I want to talk to Katherine.” Colton complained.
“The phone bill is so expensive, what are you talking about! Wait until Katherine comes back, then you can say whatever you want!” Glenna scolded him, but there was a smile on her face.
Lizzie sat on the wheelchair, “Glenna, I want to go too.”
She wasn’t too sure, wanted to hear Katherine’s voice.
Glenna immediately treated them differently, calling out to Emery, “Emery, you go push Lizzie.”
Colton opened his mouth wide, looking at them in disbelief, “Why can Lizzie go, but I can’t?”
They looked like a family of three, he was the odd one out!
The three of them turned around together and looked at Colton, all smiling. Lizzie’s uneasiness was eased a lot.
Glenna laughed and scolded, “You stay at home and cook, I’ll make you fried ham when you come back!”
Lizzie accompanied Emery and Glenna to the post office.
The phone line had to be connected to Katherine’s team first, and then someone from the team would go and call for help.
While waiting, it’s usually pretty annoying, but now Glenna’s face is full of joy. not in a hurry at all.
But soon a phone call came in..
Glenna was surprised that the phone was answered so quickly. She instinctively felt that it couldn’t be Katherine calling, but still almost jumped to answer before the operator, grabbing the receiver first.
“Hello? Is this Katherine?”
On the phone, Katherine’s anxious voice came through almost immediately, “Mom? Why are you calling all of a sudden? Did something happen at home?”
Lizzie furrowed her brows slightly.
She noticed that Katherine’s voice had a slight nasal tone, like she had just been crying.
Glenna was completely immersed in immense joy, without noticing the strangeness in Katherine’s voice at all.
“Good news! Great news! Katherine, let me tell you…”

Before she could finish her sentence, a hand suddenly reached out and gently covered the microphone.
Glenna kept saying, …we can go back to the city! We’ll be back soon!”
Glenna turned to look at Lizzie in astonishment.
Lizzie spoke into the microphone, fast but clear.
“Katherine, it’s me, Lizzie.”
“Glenna was so excited, I’ve set a wedding date here and I want you to
come back for my wedding. Go to the police station first and get a leave to visit, then come back.”
Lizzie’s mind was racing.
Lizzie’s original plan was to have Emery or Glenna fake being sick so they could easily take a day off.
Just now when Glenna exclaimed “It’s a huge deal,” her voice was loud and cheerful, you could almost feel the excitement through the phone line to the person on the other end.
Who would believe it if I said someone in my family was seriously ill now?
“Playing sick” was a road that Glenna accidentally blocked.
I had to come up with a temporary excuse.
Glenna’s face was full of confusion.
Lizzie kept on talking into the microphone.
Her spirits were high, with a hint of joy, “Katherine, I’m getting married to Mr. Howland and I want you to come back for my wedding, be my bridesmaid.”
On the phone, Katherine was first stunned. Then, her voice filled with genuine joy, she was truly happy for Lizzie!
“Lizzie? Really? That’s awesome! Congratulations!”
