While Kelsie was in the hospital, John remained by her side, looking after her.
“Honey, why don’t we ask Diana to leave? I can’t bear to see her. What if she harms me again?”
John’s face stiffened. “I’ve already spoken to her. That shouldn’t happen again. We’re family, and you should try to be kinder to her.”
Kelsie was taken aback by his response, knowing he usually listened to her in regular situations.
But noticing the faint dark circles under his eyes, she realized how much effort he had put into caring for her during her hospital stay, so she chose not to press the issue further.
When the day came for Kelsie to be discharged, John gently helped her home.
At home, the relatives praised him as the perfect husband.
Kelsie smiled warmly.
John glanced around with a frown.
Unable to spot me and with Kelsie constantly bothering him, he couldn’t search for me.

Once Kelsie went to shower, he headed to my room and discovered that many of my belongings were gone.
The emptiness made him uneasy.
When I thought he had died, I clung to his things and missed him every day. Now, everything was gone, even the wedding photo on the wall.
In a rush, he asked the servant what had happened.
The maid responded, “Ms. Diana has left.”
“When did she leave?” he inquired.
He had been busy caring for Kelsie in the hospital and hadn’t realized I had left.
“It was the night Ms. Kelsie had her accident…”
John was furious. “Why didn’t you inform me?” he demanded.
The maid was flustered, unable to respond.
Frustrated, John ordered them to leave. He reached for his phone to call me. When the call didn’t go through, he sent a message on WhatsApp. Realizing he was blocked, he panicked.

Restless, he began pacing. As he turned, his eyes landed on the trash can, filled with gifts he had given me.
Once, I valued these gifts so much that I would meticulously clean them. Now, they were discarded.
A deep unease settled over him, feeling as though something precious was slipping away, almost irretrievable.
Observing the room’s decor and recalling our shared moments, his heart ached, prompting him to swiftly leave.
He first approached my friends, asking if they’d seen me recently.
Then, without delay, he hurried to my parents‘ home to search for me.
My father slapped John across the face.
“You still have the audacity to come looking for my daughter!”

John was taken aback. He replied, “Dad… Robert, there’s been a misunderstanding between Diana and me. Please, has
she returned?”
My father sneered. “John, how long will you keep up this charade?”
“Robert, you’ve confused me with someone else. I’m Adam…”
My mother cut him off. “John, do you really take us for fools? Faking your death while still alive–it’s outrageous. We don’t acknowledge a son–in–law like you!”
John was taken aback. “How do you know about this?”
My father let out a dismissive snort. “Did you really think you could hide this forever? No secret is completely safe.”
John realized that my departure was the clue he needed and suddenly had a revelation.
“Diana told you, didn’t she? She’s aware of everything… Where is she?”
My mother replied icily, “We won’t tell you. You’ll never see her again. To us, you might as well be dead.”
John snapped, “Mom and Dad, please listen…”
My father swore, “Enough! You married our precious daughter, and look what you’ve done. She’ll never come back. Leave now!”
My parents forced him out.
