Beneath His Mercy 12

Chapter 12

He forgot his identity, and he forgot the promises he made.

Gretchen felt sorry for the medical expenses and lost wages she had to pay, so she decided to keep him around and work together to make money, so he could make up for what he promised.

This stay, lasted for three years.

They relied on each other, kept each other warm, and in those toughest times, they gradually developed a deep friendship.

He said he loved her, and wanted to make a lot of money to marry her.

He even tattooed her name on his collarbone when she wasn’t paying attention.

When she saw it, the red mark on the side of the letter had not faded yet. When she touched it, he winced in pain, but still forced a silly smile when she looked back in the past.

That period was the happiest time for Gretchen since her parents passed away one after another.

Gretchen used to think they would be happy forever, but she forgot that Howard, who loved her to the core, was the Howard she picked up, but he was never just the Howard she picked up, he was as poor as her.

Later on, he regained his memory and went back to the Wiggins’ villa with her, moving into the big mansion. But he wasn’t the same old Howard who only loved her anymore.

The sudden ringing of her phone brought her back from her memories. Gretchen looked down and saw the name “Lorenzo” on the screen, and couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, those things became the past a long time ago. Fortunately, she has had a brand new life of her own for a long time

The phone was answered, and soon a clear and refreshing voice came through, “Grete, have you arrived?”

Gretchen subconsciously nodded, then remembered he couldn’t see, and replied, “We’re safe now, how about you?”

“I had a little issue on my end, might have to wait a few more days before I can come back,” sighed Lorenzo Lester.

His voice came through the phone and into her ears, making her unable to help but laugh a little, “Is it urgent?”

“It’s no big deal, Grete doesn’t need to worry. I’ll be back in a week at most. It’s just that Grete has to go to the new company to report by herself.”

Upon hearing this answer, Gretchen completely relaxed, but when she heard the last sentence, she couldn’t help but blush a

little.

“Big mouth.”

The phone hung up, she didn’t stay any longer, dragging her suitcase and walking out.

The wind blowing as she walked made her hair fly back, and on the other side, Howard seemed to sense something. He turned his head towards the crowd, and with just one glance, he locked onto that familiar figure in the midst of the crowd.

His pupils suddenly dilated, and he froze in place, his eyes fixed on that direction, afraid that she would disappear if he blinked

The next second, he turned and ran in that direction, but he ran into Veronica who was chasing him from behind.

“Ah!”

“Mr. Wiggins!”

Two exclamations sounded at the same time, and Howard was also hit and stumbled. When he looked up again, where could he still see the figure he had been longing for?

Regret and hatred filled his mind in an instant, his body acted before his brain, raising his hand and giving the person in front of him a slap!

“Bang!”

The crisp sound of a slap made everything around quiet for a moment, countless eyes full of curiosity, mockery, or anticipatior all turned towards this direction, like sharp swords stabbing into Veronica’s spine, making her feel embarrassed.

The bright red handprint was stamped on her face, like it was trying to nail her to the pillar of shame. She had red eyes, full of grievances, and said, “Howard, how could you hit me? Who gave you the right to hit me?”

She just liked him, why did he think he could take advantage of her liking and humiliate her like that?

The look of grievance and forbearance on his face made some bystanders feel a little sympathy, but not Howard.

He still looked at her grievances coldly, then chuckled after a while.

“You don’t have to follow me.”

One sentence shut down all of Veronica’s complaints.

Yeah, it was her own choice to follow Howard, it was her own decision to hit a wall and not turn back, in the end, it was all her

own doing.
