Chapter 61
Sophia wasn’t just talking. The developer of Fortune Town, George Dewar, had fled the country with the money and was living it up abroad. But he would be returning soon. Sophia tapped her fingers lightly the table, and an idea quickly formed in her mind.
At that moment, her phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number, but Sophia didn’t even glance at it.
Her slender, long fingers continued to tap away at the keyboard, filling the laptop screen with a dizzying array of numbers and windows.
Sophia didn’t leave her room all day until, in the evening, a servant gently knocked on the door. “Ms. Chandler, Mrs. Hebert is here and says she needs to speak with you.”
“Got it,” Sophia replied, her fingers still flying over the keyboard. It took another live minutes before she finally stopped. As she was about to leave her room, Sophia paused to change into a different outfit.
Downstairs, Mrs. Hebert was anxiously sitting in the living room, talking with Heather. “Mrs. Hebert, what brings you to see Sophia?”
Kelly’s face was haggard, with bloodshot eyes. “Benedict is sick, and his girlfriend has suddenly disappeared. I was hoping Sophia could help me find her,” she explained.
Heather’s eyes twitched. ‘Ask Sophia for help? Has she lost her mind? After all the nonsense Sophia spouted at the party, Mrs. Hebert actually believes her?‘ she thought to herself.
Kelly grasped Heather’s hand. “Mrs. Chandler, please talk some sense into Sophia. I’ll pay whatever it takes; I just need her to help me find her.”
Heather gave a nervous smile. “Mrs. Hebert, if you need to find someone, you should call the police. Sophia is still young; you can’t take what she says seriously.”
Kelly shook her head, her gaze unwavering. “You don’t understand. She really knows everything.”
Heather’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Even Jonathan doesn’t know about Mireille. How could Sophia possibly know?‘ she wondered.
“Hello, Ms. Chandler,” Kelly said, quickly standing up as she saw Sophia descending the stairs. Her demeanor was much more respectful than the last time they met.
Heather turned her head, and her eyes twitched violently when she saw what Sophia was wearing.
Kelly hurried over, her eyes gleaming with hope. “What will it take for you to tell me where Ava is? 300 thousand dollars?”
Sophia shook her head enigmatically. “You won’t find her.”
Kelly pressed on. “That’s why I’m asking you, Ms. Chandler. Name your price, and I’ll pay it if you tell me where she is.”
Sophia sighed, “It’s too late.”
Kelly was taken aback. “What do you mean?”
Sophia clarified. “I mean, I know where she is, but I won’t tell you.”
“You’re toying with me,” Kelly said, her face darkening with anger.
Sophia continued, “Although I won’t tell you his whereabouts, I can go see your son.”
Kelly felt a flicker of hope despite her frustration. “Alright, I’ll take you to see Benedict.”
Sophia didn’t budge, pointing to the bank account number printed on her T–shirt. “30 thousand dollars for my time, thank you.”
Kelly immediately transferred the money using her phone. Seeing the funds hit her account, Sophia smiled.

By the time Sophia and Kelly left, Heather was still in a daze. As soon as she came to her senses, she called Jonathan, Darling, Sophia harakiy
Sophia, wearing a sun hat and sunglasses, and sporting a T–shirt with the bank account number printed on both the front and back, arrived at the Hebert e residence.
Benedict had been holed up in his room for days, refusing food and drink, and keeping everyone at bay. He had even attempted suicide with sleeping pills the day before, but fortunately, he was discovered in time; otherwise, he would have been gone.
“Mrs. Hebert, I’d like to speak with Benedict alone. You should leave,” Sophia said.
Kelly hesitated, still feeling uneasy. Sophia rolled her eyes. “If you don’t trust me, then I’ll just go,” she said, turning to leave.
Kelly quickly stopped her. “No, wait. I’ll leave, but Benedict-”
Sophia didn’t bother listening to Kelly’s ramblings and walked straight into the room.
“Get out,” Benedict croaked, his voice hoarse with anger.
Sophia wrinkled her nose in disgust. The entire room reeked of alcohol. Benedict was sitting on the floor by the bed, dressed in wrinkled pajamas, surrounded by empty bottles. He was still holding one.
“I know where Ava is,” she said. Benedict froze for a moment, then threw the bottle aside and tried to get up, only to slip on a bottle and fall back to the ground.
He didn’t get up immediately but stared intently at Sophia. “You know where she is. Tell me. Now.”
Sophia leaned against the door, arms crossed, looking casual and uninterested. She tilted her head. “Why would I tell you?”
Benedict was taken aback. ‘Yeah, why would she tell me? I don’t even know her,‘ he thought.
“Is it about the money? Name your price, and I’ll pay it if you tell me,” Benedict said.
Sophia clicked her tongue. ‘No wonder they’re mother and son–both so tempting right off the bat. But I’m a person of principles,‘ she thought. “I’m tempted, but I still can’t tell you,‘ she thought to herself.
Benedict’s face immediately turned fierce.
Sophia smirked and gave a mischievous smile. “Because you brought this on yourself.”
Benedict didn’t react as expected. Instead, he fell silent.
Sophia continued, “When you betray someone, you should think about the consequences. This is your punishment. The girl you wronged was pregnant with your child.
“Because of your parents‘ snobbishness, you abandoned her. You deserve to be abandoned, too. Everyone is equal. What gives you the right to abandon
someone?”
She continued, “Being dramatic and suicidal? That’s the losers‘ doing. You should face the consequences of your actions. You abandoned her and killed your own child. This is the price you have to pay.
“You should live with guilt and the pain of losing your loved one for the rest of your life.”
After saying what she needed to say, Sophia left. ‘Since Corey thinks this is his revenge, might as well help him out. It’s just a few words and I get paid, she thought.
“How is Benedict, Ms. Chandler?” Kelly, who had been waiting outside, quickly asked as Sophia emerged.

Sophia pushed her sunglasses up. “I’m not a doctor. How would I know if he’s better?”
Kelly was taken aback, but before she could respond, a heart wrenching scream came from the room.
“Benedict?” Kelly’s face changed, and she pushed past Sophia and into the room without a second thought
Sophia shrugged and left the Hebert residence. She called a car to take her back to the Ghandler residence. On the way, she received a call from forme. “Sophia, Howard is live–streaming and slandering you.”
Sophia comforted the furious Yvonne on the phone. “Don’t get upset. He will only get himself in trouble.” After hanging up, Sophia opened her phone and entered Howard’s livestream.
Howard looked a bit disheveled in front of the camera but wasn’t tearfully repentant. He had given up struggling and was sending a message to his few remaining fans.
‘Sophia pushed me down the stairs and broke my leg. Since you love me so much, you should help me get revenge, he thought.
After watching the livestream, Sophia sneered. ‘So scary. I should call the police,‘ she wondered and dialed. “Hello, Charlotte, help me.”
