Chapter 127
Heather frowned, clearly annoyed. “Sophia, what exactly are you trying to do?”
Sophia grinned, “I’m just curious–aren’t you? Howard’s fans are honestly kind of fascinating. I mean, how much do you have to hate someone to send this many packages? Maybe there’s something even more special inside.”
Heather’s face kept shifting between expressions. Sophia cut in bluntly, “What are you all standing around for? Open them all up.”
The butler glanced at Heather. Seeing she didn’t object, he finally picked up the scissors and began opening the packages.
Heather turned away and slumped onto the sofa, so disgusted she couldn’t bear to look. The servants lowered their heads and retreated two steps, terrified of what unknown horrors might lurk inside the package.
The atmosphere was thick with tension, everyone on edge–except for Sophia, who lounged about completely unfazed. She casually tossed her phone to a servant, telling them to film the unboxing, all while munching on half a watermelon..
“Sophia!”
“Sophia.”
Two cheerful voices suddenly rang out, making everyone–already on edge–jump in surprise.
“What’s going on here?” Dorian darted over, eyes sparkling with curiosity as he peered inside.
Maelis came clicking in on her high heels, excitement written all over her face. “Guess what, Sophia? Great news–we’re going to be neighbors!” Her cheerful announcement trailed off as she noticed everyone gathered around a pile of packages, and she froze in surprise.
Sophia looked at the two of them. “Talk about bad timing,” she said.
Dorian craned his neck to peer inside, but Sophia raised a hand and pushed him back. “Don’t look,” she said, her tone a mix of warning and playful
affection.
Dorian’s large eyes brimmed with curiosity. “What’s inside?”
Sophia smirked, “Dead rat.”
Dorian blinked. “Wait–someone sent you a dead rat? Hold on, it was meant for Howard, right?”
“Yeah,” Sophia acknowledged, impressed by how sharp Dorian was.
Dorian wasn’t scared at all–if anything, he grew even more intrigued. “Wow! I’ve never seen a dead rat before. Can I take a look?”
Sticking your nose into everything will only cause you harm.‘ Sophia thought.
But as soon as she released her grip, Dorian immediately squeezed out. “Whoa!” he gasped.
Just then, the butler opened a few more packages, revealing truly horrifying contents–not just dead rats, but also a tiny kitten, severely injured and barely clinging to life.
The rest were all Howard–related items–body pillows, plush toys, and the like. Every single one had been viciously slashed open, their limbs and heads severed, all smeared with suspicious red stains.
Dozens of packages were strewn across the living room, each box smeared with blood, creating such a gruesome sight that the entire space resembled a brutal murder scene.
“Sophia, I’m scared,” Maelis whimpered, clinging to her from behind with her hands covering her eyes—yet she couldn’t help but peek curiously through her fingers.

Sophia barely held back an eye roll and stepped aside. “The more you look, the less stary it gets,” she said.
Maelis thought to herself, ‘Seriously? Are you some kind of monster? I’m just a fragile girl who needs protection.
Dorian seemed quite taken with the tiny kitten. “Sophia,” he asked, “do you think it can still be saved?”
Sophia remained silent,
Just then, the tiny kitten–eyes closed and barely breathing–suddenly blinked them open, letting out a faint, feeble cry.
Dorian’s eyes widened in excitement. “Sophia, look!”
Sophia remained expressionless and still said nothing.
Maelis had adored animals since she was a child. She stepped forward, wanting to touch the kitten but hesitated. Her brows furrowed in concern as she looked at Sophia with pleading eyes. “It’s so resilient. I want to save it,” she said softly.
“Whatever,” Sophia replied nonchalantly.
Maelis beamed as she scooped up both the kitten and the delivery box, her four–inch heels clacking loudly as she dashed off at surprising speed.
Dorian said, “Sophia, she adores animals. She’s got seven dogs and eight cats at home–all rescued strays she took in.”
Sophia shot him a cool glance. “Seen enough? Go home.”
Dorian lingered, unwilling to leave. “Just a little longer,” he pleaded.
Sophia let him be.
Dorian couldn’t help asking, “Sophia, these are all clearly horrible things. Why do you insist on opening every single one? Aren’t you scared?”
Sophia scoffed, “I’ve killed people before–this is child’s play to me. Cowards should watch and learn. I’m just toughening them up for their own good.”
Dorian nodded thoughtfully. That made sense to him.
But Heather and the servants were utterly appalled, their faces ashen.
With all the packages finally opened, Heather fought back her disgust and fear, then snapped impatiently at Sophia, “Can we throw all this stuff out now?”
Sophia said casually, “I’ve called the cops.”
Heather froze. “What?”
Sophia said with a smirk, “That’s what the cops are for.”
Heather instantly fell silent.
No sooner had she spoken than Charlotte and her colleagues arrived on the scene.
Sophia instantly put on a beaming smile and greeted, “Charlotte.”
Charlotte sized her up and asked, “You alright?”
Sophia shook her head. “I’m fine. All these things were sent to Howard.”
Charlotte and her colleagues checked all the packages, took statements, and loaded them into the car to run fingerprint analysis. “These packages have passed through too many hands. Tracking down the sender will be tough. If you get any more suspicious deliveries, call us immediately.”

Heather was already fuming, and the whole package ordeal sent her over the edge. Her face was stormy as she snapped, “Call the cops what’s the dam use? They never solve anything”
Before Charlotte and her colleagues could say a word, Sophia snapped back, “Heather, if someone upset you, go take it up with them. Taking it out on others just makes you look classless.”
Heather, humiliated at being confronted in front of others, flushed crimson. She sputtered, “Sophia, you‘
Sophia cut her off sternly, “Heather, must you make such a scene? You’re embarrassing yourself in front of others. Have you no sense of dignity?”
Heather instantly fell silent.
Charlotte remained unfazed, while her colleagues gaped in wide–eyed achment like a country bumpkin seeing the big city for the first time.
“Charlotte, don’t take Heather’s words to heart,” Sophia said
Sweet smile. “Let me
walk you out.”
Charlotte repeatedly warned her, “If you receive any more suspicious packages, don’t open them–call us immediately.”
“Okay,” Sophia replied, putting on her sweetest, most innocent smile.
Before getting in the car, Charlotte added, “By the way, since you helped the police department solve that three–year–old case, there’s a reward coming your way.”
At the mention of a reward, Sophia’s eyes lit up. “Sure, I’ll drop by when I’m free,” she said. After seeing Charlotte and her colleagues off, Sophia shot Dorian a meaningful look. “Show’s over. Time to head home,” she added.
Though clearly reluctant, Dorian trudged obediently back home.
As Sophia stepped inside, the sound of shattering porcelain rang out. Heather had finally unleashed her pent–up rage.
Sophia dragged a chair to the doorway, settled in with her watermelon, and leisurely ordered a servant to film Heather as she raged and smashed things.
The maid’s hands shook as she filmed–she was certain this video would mean the end of her job with the Chandlers.
Sophia snapped, “What’s with the shaking? Keep it steady.”
The maid was on the verge of tears, her voice trembling as she stammered, “M–Ms. Sophia Chandler…”
Sophia lifted her gaze coolly and said, “Listen. If anything happens, I’ve got your back.”
The maid swallowed hard, finally feeling relieved.
Heather had unleashed her fury to the fullest. Her hair hung loose and disheveled. Whether from exhaustion or emotional collapse, she collapsed onto the sofa and broke into quiet sobs.
Sophia handed the half–eaten watermelon to a servant. Pulling out her phone, she captured Heather sitting amidst the wreckage, sobbing. Once done, she sent the video to Jonathan with a quick text, [Get back here! Your wife’s gone mad!]
