Sophia didn’t mind. She’d already seen who she was waiting for. Sophia feigned a pout, glanced playfully, and called out, “Wilbur, you’re so slow. I was chatting with the owner. Perfect timing.”
Wilbur was speechless and thought, ‘From Wilbur to Wilbur, is she trying to claim seniority over me?‘
Luna froze momentarily when she saw Wilbur, but quickly averted her gaze and asked, “What would you like to drink, sir?”
At Luna’s question, Wilbur met her gaze but stayed silent.
Sophia clicked her tongue and said, “Well, don’t bother with him; he’s easy to please. Just give him a glass of water and he’ll be fine.”
Wilbur’s face darkened as he growled, “Sophia.”
Sophia glanced up at him with a smirk. “Don’t get antsy, Wilbur. Your elder is right here. Wait your turn, save it for later.”
Wilbur clenched his fists tightly. He was speechless and thought, ‘So this is what Jonathan felt back at the hospital, utterly frustrated and helpless.”
Luna faced away from Sophia, head down, quietly grinding the coffee. Once done, Luna brought out the coffee and retrieved the cake from the back. Setting everything on the table, Luna said, “Please enjoy.” Finally, Luna poured a glass of water for Wilbur.
Wilbur pressed his lips together, refusing to speak.
Sophia said with disapproval, “She served you water. Say thanks.”
Wilbur muttered through gritted teeth, “Thanks.”
Luna kept her gaze averted and said nothing, simply offering a smile.
Sophia rolled her eyes and stood up. “Bring my coffee and cake over here,” she demanded.
Wilbur wasn’t sure who she was calling. After glancing at Luna, he quietly picked up both the coffee and the cake, and followed Sophia behind.
“Wilbur, this place has such a nice vibe, and the shop owner is quite a looker. Looks like I’ll be coming here more often,” Sophia remarked with a playful
smirk.
Wilbur’s eyes burned with suppressed rage. Through gritted teeth, he asked, “What the hell are you up to, Sophia?”
Sophia blinked playfully and answered, “Just coffee. Why so jumpy?”
Sophia took a deliberate sip of her coffee, and then said pointedly, “This coffee is actually pretty good; you’ve got great taste, Wilbur. When you and she tie the knot, I’ll make sure to give you an unforgettable wedding gift.”
Wilbur nervously clenched his fists, and said, “Cut it out. There’s absolutely nothing between us.”
Sophia feigned shock and exclaimed, “Wilbur, how ungrateful. The boss was your childhood sweetheart. She worked to put you through school. Now you’ve made it, you abandon her? Jonathan’s spawn, typical deadbeat.”
Wilbur’s anger was reaching its boiling point. He thought, ‘Since joining the Chandler Group, I’d barely seen Luna. At most, I’d stop by for a coffee. To others, I am a deadbeat, with no way to defend myself. Sophia was mad. Getting angry was pointless.‘
Sophia set down her coffee cup and said, “Alright, back to business. I didn’t call you here for anything major, just wanted to offer you a job.”
Wilbur scoffed, “Since when did you become so generous?”

Sophia said, “Be more confident. I’ve got high hopes for you. “Hey, I’m not like old Jonathan, we’re actually kinds related by blood, you know?
Wilbur scoffed and thought, ‘There’s no way I’d trust her. Despite her youth, she was the biggest obstacle to my revenge. She had Jonathan under het control and scored 1574 as the top STEM student. A genius isn’t scary, but a mad genius? That’s truly terrifying‘
Sophia knew Wilbur didn’t trust her, so she cut to the chase and said, Bet you’re pretty pissed off about being kicked out of the Chandler Group, well, got a job for you; one that’s all about targeting the Chandlers. In or not?”
Wilbur remained unmoved and asked, “What’s your angle?”
Sophia shrugged and answered, “Same as you. Revenge.”
Wilbur blurted out without thinking and asked, “Wait, don’t tell me you’re also–”
Sophia grabbed a sugar cube from the table and hurled it at Wilbur. “Bullshit. You’re the bastard here. I’m the legitimate daughter of the Chandler family, and that’s final.”
Wilbur shot back, “Please, the daughter who’s not really valued by the family?”
Sophia scoffed disdainfully and said, “No, I’m the one who’s going to destroy them.”
“Fine, whatever makes you happy,” Wilbur said. Anyway, this was none of his business
Sophia took a bank card from her bag and handed it to Wilbur. “150 million here. Get an investment company registered.”
Even the usually unflappable Wilbur was stunned speechless.
Wilbur stared at Sophia in disbelief and asked, “Register a company? You’re actually starting one?”
Sophia arched an eyebrow and answered, “Got a problem with that?”
Wilbur stared at the card, swallowing hard and said, “You… how do you have this much money?” he stammered and thought, ‘that was 150 million!”
Sophia shrugged, totally unfazed and asked, “Is that a lot? I made it myself.”
Wilbur fell silent. He thought, ‘I’ve heard about Sophia, just leeching off Jonathan for money. But would Jonathan really give her that much, just to let her play around with company? Wait, something’s off. ‘ Wilbur asked, “Why me?”
Sophia scooped up a bite of cake with a small spoon, popped it into her mouth, then looked at Wilbur with a smirk and said, “Come on, Wilbur, have some confidence. You’re not worse than anyone else.”
That tone sounded odd, but Wilbur wasn’t focused on that. He continued asking, “Ms. Sophia Chandler, are you just toying with me? If so, I’m not playing
along.”
While shoveling cake into her mouth, Sophia snapped at Wilbur and said, “Are you out of your damn mind? I’ve got a hundred ways to ruin you; why the hell would I waste 150 million just to toy with you?”
Wilbur pressed his lips and thought, ‘This lunatic’s on the edge of legality. Who knows when she’ll cross into outright crime? Her thoughts are unpredictable. That’s why I want nothing to do with her. The farther away, the better.’
Sophia rolled her eyes disdainfully and said, “Quit dragging your feet. Do you even want revenge or not? Don’t tell me you’re still holding out hope for Jonathan. Pathetic.”
Wilbur felt a surge of fury but forced it down. He shot Sophia a cold look and said, “Sophia, I’ll handle my revenge myself.”
Sophia sneered, “So your grand plan is to slave away for the Chandler Group, making them money? Who knew you were su up others while burning yourself out.”
Wilbur stayed silent, sticking to his strategy. As long as he didn’t speak, Sophia couldn’t do anything to him.

Sophia waved her hand, clearly bored, and said, “Get lost. I’ll be waiting for the day you come crawling back.”
Wilbur dismissed Sophia’s words with a scoff and stood up to leave.
Sophia’s phone rang. It was Dorian. He said, “Hey, Sophia, wanna go check out the drama at the Hebert family?”
Sophia blinked playfully,
Dorian continued on the phone, “We never got to finish that drama at the Hebert family last time, so I had someone keep tabs on them. Now things are really kicking off over there, wanna come check it out with me?”
Sophia paused for a beat, then thought to herself, ‘This kid’s got some nerve.‘ Grinning, she said, “Free entertainment is always worth watching. Come on, let’s go check out the drama.”
