‘If I had ulterior motives, I wouldn’t hide them,” Tristan replied, his tone deceptively casual. “But surely as a Beta, you understand the difference between support and possession. You shouldn’t covet what isn’t yours.”
I frowned, confused by his words, but noticed Kieran’s expression darkening beside me.
“We should prepare for the meeting,” I said to Alpha Rowan, eager to escape this increasingly tense interaction. “If you’ll
excuse us.”
I pulled Kieran away before he could respond, moving us toward the other side of the hall.
“That man is infuriating,” Kieran muttered, anger simmering beneath his controlled tone.
‘Stay calm,‘ I urged, keeping my voice low. “He’s trying to get under your skin. Don’t let him.”
Kieran took a deep breath, his features softening as he looked at me. “If you want me to remain calm, I will.” He placed his hand gently over mine, the touch unexpectedly intimate.
His sudden display of affection caught me off guard. I opened my mouth to question it when the speakers crackled to life.
“Please take your seats. The meeting will begin momentarily.”
Kieran and I found our designated table, marked with a small “Moonshade Pack” placard. He pulled out my chair with a surprising formality.
Alpha Rowan took the stage with his assistant, commanding immediate attention from the assembled representatives. The room fell silent as he stepped up to the microphone.

A younger wolf with the same sharp features as Rowan stepped onto the stage, receiving polite applause.
“Thank you all for coming, Alpha Liam said, his voice deeper than his brother’s. “These border resources are vital to both our interests. As the leader of this pack, I guarantee that whoever secures this partnership will have Mistwood’s complete support.
