The black Maybach rolled to a stop in front of me. I blinked, confused, and instinctively stepped aside.
The car door opened, and a man around forty stepped out–slick suit, calm smile.
“Miss Rae?” he asked, polite but sure.
I gave a cautious nod. “Yes?”
“I was sent by Alpha Richard. He asked me to bring you home.”
Richard?
I couldn’t help the way my lips curved up, just a little.
Maybe… just maybe, this bond wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
When I stepped into the house, the storm hit.
My mom, full force.
“You–you bonded behind our backs?! With who?! Rae, the whole pack thought you were still chasing Logan!”
She was just heating up when I pulled out the silver certificate

Dad leaned over for a better look. And then his eyes widened too.
“Alpha Richard of the Blackridge Pack?”
Yeah. That Richard.
The heir to the largest, oldest, and most feared pack across the northern territory.
The wolf who rarely spoke, but when he did, the room went silent.

Dad lit up like a full moon on mating night.
