Chapter 18
Stella seemed to notice something was off, her gaze falling thoughtfully on Clarissa, “What’s wrong,
Clare?”
“Nothing…”
After a few seconds, Clarissa came back to her senses, feeling a bit more clear–headed.
“I’m sorry, Stella…”
“Huh?” Stella was confused by her sudden apology, “Why are you suddenly saying sorry?”
I’m sorry… for keeping some things from you. Clarissa thought somewhat helplessly.
Just as Clarissa’s heart was feeling unsettled, her phone chimed.
A WhatsApp message from Theodore.
[Finished work?]
Clarissa put down her fork and honestly reported: [Yes, having dinner with a colleague.]
After typing this, Clarissa also took a photo of the restaurant and sent it over.
To her surprise, he sent a video clip back.
Clarissa could tell at a glance that it was filmed in a hotel room. The camera panned around the spacious room in a full circle, seemingly not missing any corner.
What did this mean?
Clarissa thought, was she also supposed to send a video update?
So, she quickly recorded a video and sent it back.
However, what Clarissa failed to realize was that in the video, she had inadvertently captured

Stella’s animated face, along with her very confident gossip-
“I think our boss must have had women before!”
Theodore paused for a few seconds, then sent back a “?“.
Only then did Clarissa belatedly realize what had happened. She subtly steadied her breathing, repeatedly typing and then deleting her words, feeling they weren’t appropriate.
Theodore meaningfully stared at the “typing…” indicator at the top of the chat interface, sensing her
dilemma.
It probably took a minute or two.
Clarissa, perhaps feeling that explanations were futile, finally responded in a resigned manner:
[Sorry, boss. I was just… listening to my colleague gossip about your love life.]
Theodore: [I see.]
See what?
As if in a chain reaction, after Theodore sent his message, Stella, sitting across from her, suddenly exclaimed “Ah!” with a somewhat terrified expression.
“What’s wrong, Stella?”
“Quick, look at the boss’s Instagram! Is he announcing that he has a girlfriend?!”
“1”
Clarissa inevitably felt a moment of tension. She took the phone Stella handed to her, controlling the trembling of her fingers, and looked at it with a mix of belief and doubt.
Theodore had indeed posted content related to his private life on his Instagram account, which he usually used for work.
Clarissa immediately recognized the location in the photo as the home he had taken her to a few days ago.

Chapter 18
In the photo was a woman’s back view, wearing a moonlight–white long dress, standing in front of a
wall of floor–to–ceiling windows, looking at the scenery outside.
And Theodore’s caption for this photo was-
[She says she likes it here.]
Clarissa felt somewhat dazed.
To her, the day she went back to his home seemed like just an ordinary morning.
A marriage without love, like a collaboration. Naturally, marriage to her didn’t seem to have… the kind of feeling that normal marriages should have.
But now, looking at that photo and text, Clarissa felt a delayed surge of warmth in her heart.
