Chapter 6
I thought this whole thing was over, but the next day I received a call from an unknown number.
As soon as the call connected, before I could even speak, Christopher’s cold voice came through: “Olivia, we need to meet
and talk.”
I refused without hesitation: “There’s nothing for us to talk about,
is there?”
“I’m waiting for you at the coffee shop by the high school.”
With that, Christopher hung up directly.
He seemed certain I would show up, just like in my past life when he could always control me with precision.
All our arguments basically ended with him winning.
In our previous life, even after we’d been together for so many years, he still insisted I move to New York with him.
But this time, I wouldn’t give him what he wanted.
I didn’t take his invitation seriously at all and immediately blocked the phone number.

I had other things to do, including my prenatal checkup, and no time for his games.
But I underestimated Christopher’s persistence.
The day after Scott left for work, Christopher actually showed up
at the entrance of my residential community.
The moment he saw me, Christopher wore a smug expression.
“Olivia, trying to hide from me?”
I sighed, feeling somewhat helpless.
I had overlooked this detail. After all, Scott was a prominent figure in Texas, so it wouldn’t be difficult for Christopher to investigate
his address.
It seemed that to get rid of Christopher’s harassment, I needed to make things crystal clear.
I hoped to never have any contact with Christopher again..
I followed him into a coffee shop near the community and got straight to the point: “‘What do you want from me?”
“What would you like to drink? Americano or latte?” Christopher

didn’t answer my question directly.
“Water,” I said bluntly. “I’m pregnant and can’t drink coffee.”
Christopher’s expression darkened, but he ultimately said
nothing.

Once our drinks arrived, he took a sip of his coffee before speaking: “Olivia, I never expected you to actually marry Scott. I remember when we were in school, didn’t you dislike him?”
“People change,” I said, glancing at him indifferently.
I continued: “Didn’t you also reject Madison back then? Yet now you’re still with her.”
“That’s because…” Christopher wanted to explain but eventually
closed his mouth.
I wasn’t particularly interested in what he wanted to say. I simply
did said: “You didn’t ask me out here to talk about this nonsense,
you?”
“Nonsense?” Christopher suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with
anger.
“Olivia, we were together for so many years in our past life. Do you think what I’m saying is nonsense?”

“Of course,” I admitted openly.

I said: “That was all in our past life. In this life, we’ve long since
gone our separate ways, haven’t we?”
“I just wanted to teach you a lesson!” Christopher glared at me.
“I just wanted to tell you that your obsession in the past life was wrong! Now that you regret it, you can still be with me!”
I looked at him quietly, neither smiling nor angry, but feeling more helpless than anything.
I asked him with genuine confusion: “What makes you think that? Where does this sense of superiority come from?”
“Because I’m right!” Christopher said decisively. “The facts prove it too. Look at our classmates who stayed here–which one of them has made it big?
“Sure, Scott is doing well, but that’s because his family is wealthy. Without his family’s help, he’d be no different from the rest of
them!
“Only I relied on my own efforts to establish myself in New York step by step!”

Christopher grew more excited as he spoke.
I sipped my water without interrupting him.

Seeing that I remained silent, Christopher asked angrily: “Don’t you have anything to say?”
I asked helplessly in return: “Didn’t you say everything you’re saying is right? What should I say?”
Christopher said: “Olivia, don’t mock me. Is it so hard to admit that I’m better than Scott?”
