Chapter 9
Northwyn, Sanctum Hotel.
I stood at the entrance of the grand banquet hall, gazing at the lavish decorations, feeling a bit
dazed.
I had thought that after breaking off my engagement with Edward, it would be very difficult for me to marry again.
I was even mentally prepared to be mocked by all the elites of Northwyn.
Although the Robert Family was barely considered a notable noble family among the city’s elites, they were still a decent match for marriage alliances.
But my family was just a branch of the Robert Family. My father was a son–in–law who married into the family, my mother had passed away early and I was neither favored nor warmly treated at home.
When I first called Jason, it was just a moment of anger and a try to see what might happen. Who would have thought that Jason had never let me go and immediately agreed without
hesitation.
The Clark Family in Northwyn ranked almost as high as the Hall Family. In fact, the Clark Family was the most deeply rooted clan in Northwyn.
Over the years, the Clark Family had successfully married into many noble families, making their power even greater.
“Eliza, what are you daydreaming about?”
Jason appeared behind me without me noticing, wrapped his arm around my waist and whispered close to my ear, “Your ears are all red, is that because you’re shy?”
“Jason, you’re not allowed to tease me like that!” I was so embarrassed that I just wanted to crawl into a hole and I secretly punched him several times.
“Okay, okay, I was wrong. Please go easy on me. If you keep hitting me, I’m going to get internal injuries. You don’t want your husband to drop dead right on your wedding day, do you?”
I quickly covered his mouth. “It’s a happy day, what nonsense are you talking about? No nonsense allowed!”
Jason took my hand, intertwining our fingers tightly. “Let’s go, it’s time to enter. I’ve thought it over. You should enter with me, so you don’t get too nervous.”
My heart skipped a beat. I squeezed his hand tightly, feeling tiny beads of sweat in my palm and step by step, we walked side by side into the venue.
As soon as we pushed open the door, the wedding march began playing. All the guests immediately turned their eyes to us in unison.
I had imagined this moment countless times, wearing this wedding dress, walking into the hall of marriage with Edward.
Thinking of Edward, my heart tingled with a sharp, tangled ache.
Jason squeezed my hand gently and softly said, “Eliza, don’t be nervous, I’m right here by your

side.”
Around us, the guests were whispering among themselves.
“The bride from the Clark Family is so beautiful, she looks like a lucky charm for the family. The Clark Family is going to have great fortune.”
“I agree, just look at her bright forehead. She’s already left all her hardships behind and is ready to enjoy a happy life.”
“She truly is a big blessing. The Hall Family has lost a treasure.”
All the guests were praising me; no one said a single bad word.
Jason held my hand and walked straight to his parents.
“Eliza, you must have been wronged marrying my stubborn son,” his mother, Emma, said as she clapped twice.
Then someone began bringing gifts into the hall one after another, flowing in like a stream.
“Announcement! The Clark Family presents the bride with a luxurious villa, a Maybach car, a set of diamond accessories worth 700 thousand dollars and a hundred thousand dollars!”
Hearing the staggering value of the gifts, the entire hall erupted in astonishment.
“These are just part of the betrothal gifts from our Clark Family. After you officially join our family, I will personally gift you assets worth one hundred thousand dollars,” Emma said with a bright smile as she looked at me and Jason.
“Eliza, I just want to ask you one thing. Are you really willing to marry my son?”
I was about to answer when the door was suddenly pushed open.
Edward stood at the entrance, shouting loudly, “She doesn’t want to!”
