Chapter 16
The person who came was none other than Olive.
Her hair was disheveled, her clothes had several holes, her face was dirty and she had lost a lot of weight. She looked almost skeletal,
If I hadn’t recognized her voice, I wouldn’t have known the person in front of me was Olive especially if we had met on the street.
Olive clung to Edward, crying uncontrollably and begging him repeatedly.
But the look in Edward’s eyes was always cold and indifferent.
I had no intention of getting involved between the two of them and was about to turn and leave. Just as I turned, there was a loud “bang” behind me.
Edward kicked Olive hard in the chest. She was sent flying and slammed directly into the tea table, screaming in pain several times.
She lay on the ground, clutching her chest, looking at Edward in disbelief. “Edward, why did you hit me? I’m Olive, your most beloved little sister!”
“The only person I love is Eliza.” Edward sneered coldly. “What are you? You were already disowned by the Hall Family long ago and have nothing to do with me anymore. Don’t call yourself my sister. It just makes me sick.”
Olive’s face turned deathly pale. “What? Edward, it’s true I was kicked out of the Hall Family
but…”
Edward stepped forward, raised his hand, slapped Olive, then grabbed her chin, silencing her.
He looked at her viciously and spoke each word deliberately. “Because of shameless women like you, I made a huge mistake and lost the woman I love most! Do you really think that what happened between you and me is the real reason you were kicked out of the Hall Family?”
It turned out that, years ago, Olive had been noticed by a wealthy overseas businessman.
At that time, the Hall Family was eager to expand into overseas markets and this businessman was a hard–to–find potential partner.
So the Hall Family arranged for Olive to be betrothed to the businessman, planning to marry her off once she came of age.
But the businessman was already an old man over sixty years old.
Olive didn’t want to spend her youth tied to an old man, so she seduced Edward instead. Over the years, Edward had been covertly delaying Olive’s marriage.
Olive’s scheme was clear. She planned that by getting pregnant and bearing the first son of the Hall Family, she could escape the fate of becoming the bride of a sixty–year–old man.
But when the truth was completely exposed, the Hall Family’s attempt to expand overseas failed and she was kicked out of the Hall Family.
“No, it’s not like that… Edward, please listen to me…I did all this because I loved you too much… Is it wrong to love you?”
“You really think you love me? What you loved was my identity as the only son of the Hall

Family.”
Edward’s expression grew colder and colder. “But your timing is perfect. You can properly apologize to Eliza now. This is what you owe her.”
Edward dragged Olive in front of me and pressed her head down. With a loud thud, she kowtowed before me.
“Eliza, how about this? If you’re still not satisfied, I can make her keep kowtowing and apologizing to you.”
Before I could say anything, Edward pressed her head down again–three more loud kowtows. “Edward, are you doing this to vent your anger, or to apologize to me?”
I raised my hand and glanced at my watch. “Your ten minutes are up. I’ve heard what you wanted to say. You can leave now.”
“No!”
Edward suddenly let go of Olive and stepped forward to block me. “Eliza, what will it take for you to forgive me?”
