Chapter 12
Edward clenched his fists tightly, his fingernails digging deep into his palms.
“I will find a way to get to the bottom of this and give you justice. Eliza, please believe me.“.
His eyes were bloodshot and he staggered toward me, trying to make physical contact. “Eliza, please give me one last chance. Just this one last chance is enough.”
He spoke rapidly, as if afraid of being interrupted, “This time, I will seize this one and only chance, prove myself properly and make it up to you. You will definitely change your mind.”
‘Edward, where do you get the confidence that I will change my mind?”
His arrogance made me laugh. “Don’t you understand by now? I don’t love you anymore.”
turned my head toward Jason behind me and reached out to hold his hand. “He’s the only one
ove now.”
Jason held my hand tightly and pulled me into his embrace. “Edward, this situation is already ugly enough. My wedding will continue as planned. You can leave if you want. Of course, if you want to stay and give me and Eliza your blessings, I won’t mind.”
Edward stepped forward and blocked Jason. “Let Eliza go. Whatever conditions you want, my Hall Family can agree to.”
looked up at Jason in surprise. I was just an orphan from a branch of the Robert Family, of little value to the Clark Family.
Now that Edward proposed such terms, giving me up and turning to take over part of the Hall Family’s business might håve seemed like the better choice. After all, the Clark Family had long wanted to expand their commercial empire further.
Jason turned to me with deep affection in his eyes and slowly said, “Sorry, I refuse. Eliza is not an object. She’s a person. Her worth can’t be measured by money.”
Edward tried to say something else, but at that moment, more than a dozen black–clad bodyguards stormed into the wedding venue.
Rowan and Rosalind led the group. Seeing Edward, their brows furrowed.
Rosalind hurriedly urged, “Quick! He’s there! Tie him up and don’t let him disgrace us any urther!”
Edward tried to run, but the black–clad bodyguards immediately pinned him to the ground.
He struggled wildly on the ground, shouting, “I’m not going back! Let me go!”
Rowan stepped forward and slapped Edward hard across the face. “You unfilial son! How could you do such a despicable thing? You’ve completely shamed our Hall Family’s honor! Hurry up, tie
im up and make sure he doesn’t get out!”
Rowan and Rosalind, along with the bodyguards, roughly covered Edward’s mouth and started dragging him away from the venue.
But Emma blocked their path, her face full of displeasure. “Today is my son’s wedding. This is not some place where just anyone can come and go as they please. You’d better give us something worth it if you want to leave.”
Chapter 11
4:40 pm DDD
The usually cold and aloof Rowan and Rosalind were, for once, taken aback and silenced.
Rowan bowed deeply to Emma and said, “For all the projects this year between the Hall and Clark families, the Hall Family will voluntarily concede a 20% profit share. The apology will be delivered to the Clark Family residence tomorrow. This is due to my failure in raising my son properly and I apologize for troubling everyone.”
Before leaving, Rowan and Rosalind gave me a long, meaningful look.
After this incident, the wedding continued as planned.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Jason and I exchanged rings and officially became husband and wife.
