Chapter 6 

Aria stumbled out of the ballroom, her face burning, dried blood crusting at the corner of her mouth.

She ditched the driver and drove herself to the hospital.

As the doctor patched her up, she stared at her reflection.

Half her face swollen red, split lip, bloodshot eyes.

What a mess.

She tried to smile but flinched when it pulled at her wounds.

After getting fixed up, she headed for her car, only to find two people blocking her path-

Savannah’s parents.

They cornered her at her car doors, begging: “Please Miss Sterling, just give up the wife position. Have some mercy on us and let our Savannah take your place…”

Aria shot them an icy look. “Move.”

“Savannah truly loves him. Just let them be happy…”

“I said move.”

Done with this BS, she pushed past them and got in her car.

But the second she hit the gas, Savannah’s father suddenly threw himself in front of her car-

THUD!

Before Aria could even process what happened, he was on the ground clutching his leg, screaming his head off.

His wife shrieked and ran to him. “Oh my god, honey?!”

Aria sat frozen, white–knuckling the steering wheel.

He did that on purpose.

It was a setup.

No time to think–she jumped out and rushed him to the ER.

In the hospital hallway, Savannah came running. The moment she spotted Aria, she slapped her hard across the face!

CRACK!

Aria’s head snapped sideways, ears ringing.

“You evil bitch!” Savannah sobbed dramatically. “Do whatever you want to me, I can take it. but why hurt my poor parents?”

The fresh bandage on Aria’s cheek split open, blood seeping through, but she couldn’t even feel it anymore.

“Your dad jumped in front of my car,” she said flatly.

“At least a better lie.” Alexander’s cold voice cut in from behind. “Why the hell would her father throw himself at your car?”

“When did you turn into so vicious, Aria?”

She looked at him, her heart already torn to shreds.

He wouldn’t even question it. Just assumed she’d hit someone on purpose.

Chapter 6

He’d completely forgotten how crazy in love with her he once was.

A doctor rushed out. “Patient’s lost too much blood. Needs type A immediately. Anyone here a match?”

Savannah shook her head through her tears. “I’m immediate family… I can’t…”

Alexander’s eyes locked onto Aria. “She’s type A. Use her.”

Aria’s head snapped up. “No way.”

“You smashed him up. You better fix it.” His eyes darkened dangerously. “If he dies, you’re done.”

Aria felt ice–cold, her voice trembling. “So are you trying to kill my parents again? Kill me again?”

His eyes flickered for a split second, like her words had hit a nerve.

But a moment later, he hardened his heart and barked at security: “Hold her down. Take her blood.”

They forced Aria into the donation chair, her body shaking as the needle went in.

As the blood bag filled, her vision started going dark.

She remembered how it used to be. She was anemic, and Alexander would lose his mind if she got even a papercut.

Now he was holding her down, stealing her blood to save someone who’d clearly scammed her.

Her vision tunneled to black, and she finally passed out.
