Chapter 6
“Didn’t we agree to try on wedding dresses? You’re picking me up from the Vale family estate?”
Dorian Blackwell’s car had just stopped when my mother–in–law stumbled out, her face pale as paper.
She desperately clawed at the car window, completely ignoring Dorian Blackwell in the driver’s seat, trembling as she questioned:
‘Clara Ellison! What do you mean by that document you sent me? How could Irene be pregnant? Ronan is still lying
in the hospital – whose child is this really…”
I maintained a proper smile:
‘Auntie, you should ask Theodore Vale and Irene that question.”
She swayed, staring in disbelief:
‘You, explain yourself clearly!”
I slowly raised the car window, leaving her with a meaningful smile.
As the car drove away, seeing my mother–in–law collapse in the rearview mirror made me laugh softly.
Dorian Blackwell looked at me with amusement:
‘Clara Ellison, now that’s more like you.”
glanced at him:
‘Little uncle, aren’t you the same? You sent the Vale family a wedding invitation so quickly? Want to watch the
show?”
He suddenly reached over, half–circling me in the seat. When our eyes met, his Adam’s apple visibly bobbed:
‘We’re already married – still won’t call me husband?”
His warm breath hit my face, and I uncomfortably shrank back:
‘Going straight from little uncle to husband isn’t that too big a jump? Maybe we should take it slower?”
He immediately lowered his eyes, his long lashes trembling uneasily:
‘Clara Ellison, was marrying me just an impulse? You don’t actually want to marry me?”
Seeing his aggrieved expression, I immediately felt guilty:

His sister–in–law is carrying his child while my billionaire uncle just nanosed to me

“It was indeed an impulse.”
Tears immediately welled up in his eyes, looking like he was about to cry.
I hastily explained:
“But I don’t regret it! Marrying you is good!”
He still didn’t believe me, closing his eyes as a tear slid down:
‘You’re just placating me.”
‘Husband!” I blurted out.
His eyes immediately lit up, his voice gentle enough to drip water:
‘Wife.”
I couldn’t help but smile.
Learning that Ronan was about to wake up, Theodore Vale felt a strong sense of unwillingness.
He wouldn’t hand the company over to Ronan.
Since childhood, his parents always talked about Ronan:
“The company will be left to Ronan in the future.”
But to him, there was always only one cold instruction: “Play however you want, just don’t disgrace the family
name.”
Why?
He had also worked hard, also wanted to contribute to the family.
But his parents wouldn’t even give him a chance.
When Ronan’s car accident turned him into a vegetable, he even felt a moment of relief.
Finally, no one would compete with him for the company, and even Ronan’s beloved woman could only be toyed with by him.
Now he just needed to get these old foxes at the company to transfer their shares to him. Even if Ronan woke up, it would be too late.
At the dinner table, he toasted countless rounds, drinking until he vomited.

But those old foxes still wouldn’t budge.
Theodore Vale signaled his assistant.
Soon, the private room door opened and a group of heavily made–up women swayed in.
He curved his lips in a cold smile the shares would be his tomorrow.
As a woman was about to sit on his lap, Theodore Vale suddenly stood up to avoid her, his face full of disgust.
He stumbled out of the room, leaning against the corridor wall to light a cigarette.
Except for Clara Ellison, any woman’s approach made him nauseous.
Of course, Irene was an exception.
After all, toying with his brother’s woman could disgust Ronan, so he was willing to endure it.
In the swirling smoke, he finally remembered Clara Ellison, forgotten at the estate.
At 5 AM, his phone screen was piercingly clean.
No missed calls, no text bombardments.
Before, every night at eleven o’clock, her calls would ring on time urging him to come home.
Then he always found it annoying, but now he felt strangely empty.
“Tsk, might as well humor her.”
He irritably stubbed out his cigarette and was about to dial.
His phone suddenly vibrated, and Old Vale’s furious voice came through:
“Theodore Vale! Are you even human?!”
