Chapter81
She glanced at the draft she had translated and left on the table, her expression slightly stiff.
Why did he ignore me as if he hadn’t seen me when Lizzie arrived?
The anger and resentment flashed across her face, but when the two people approached, her expression returned to normal.
“Lizzie,” Johanna called softly.
Lizzie glanced at her, not showing any intention to respond to her. Johanna’s face froze, then she innocently looked at Fredrick.
However, Fredrick completely didn’t notice her expression, pushed Lizzie to an empty table, then casually took the manuscript in her hand, subconsciously pulled out the contents, and focused on reading it.
After a while, he suddenly remembered there was someone standing next to him.
Fredrick looked up, a bit embarrassed, and finally picked up Johanna’s long–neglected manuscript.
He cleared his throat, “Sorry, I forgot for a moment. I’ll look at your translation now.”
Johanna gritted her teeth, forced a smile on her face, and waved her hand nonchalantly.
“No problem.”

Fredrick carefully examined the manuscript, furrowing his brows slightly, and said in a gentle yet firm tone, “Ms. Munoz, the translation in this manuscript does not meet the standard. Your skills still need improvement, I’m afraid you cannot be the primary translator.”
Johanna’s face turned pale in an instant, she gritted her teeth and there was a deep sense of unwillingness in her eyes!
He just took a quick glance and said “not qualified“, denying her efforts!
Lizzie was the focus of her
gaze.
They seemed to get along really well, could it be that he was helping Lizzie bully himself!
Lizzie couldn’t help but look up at Fredrick’s words, and she gave a slight smile.
Johanna locked eyes with her, even though her gaze was calm, Johanna still felt Lizzie’s sarcasm!
Suddenly, anger and shame intertwined in my heart.
Fredrick handed the manuscript to Johanna, mentioning that she was a researcher’s fiancee, and said gently, “You can go back and study some more, and come back to translate the manuscript when you’re ready.”
Johanna hardly heard what he said, feeling nothing but embarrassment and anger. The huge difference in Fredrick’s attitude towards her and towards Lizzie made her extremely upset!
She turned around immediately and hurriedly left the bookstore.
Lizzie smirked, definitely mocking her! Mocking her for being out of her depth!

If I had known Lizzie was coming today, I would have rescheduled for another day!
Embarrassing in front of Lizzie, even more upsetting for Johanna!
Johanna reacted so strongly to the departure, Fredrick was a bit stunned.
“Did I say something too harsh just now?” He looked at Johanna and could tell that her husband had just passed away. He had been taking care of her emotions a lot.
Lizzie curved her lips and wasn’t surprised at all by Johanna’s reaction.
She was not very skilled and had a fragile heart.
I used to always go to Theron for work–related issues.
Theron would say, “Since she was just sitting around at home, she might as well help out Johanna more.”
Then her research findings ended up in Johanna’s hands.
Now Johanna definitely doesn’t think it’s her own fault, but she feels like she’s being suppressed.
“Fredrick, what you said didn’t carry much weight, maybe because you’ve been through a lot of sadness recently and are feeling fragile.”
Fredrick breathed a sigh of relief, “Okay, come on, let me see your draft.”
Just finished reading Johanna’s gibberish, gotta take a look at Izie’s and refresh my eyes.
Hé picked up Lizzie’s manuscript and started reading it.

Johanna almost stormed out of the bookstore, head down, hiding the resentment in her eyes.
She almost didn’t see the road ahead clearly, and unexpectedly bumped into the person coming towards her.
“Ah!” they both exclaimed together.
Johanna stumbled backwards, almost falling.
The person who bumped into her didn’t fare well either, the cloth bag in his hand fell, and a lot of things rolled out of it.
“How do you walk! Are you blind – oh! Hanna?!”
A familiar voice sounded in her ear, Johanna looked up and saw Adrienne’s shocked eyes.
She barely held her balance, blinked, and tried to hold back the tears in her eyes.
“Adrienne, are you okay?” She lowered her head, blinked her eyes, and finally suppressed the resentment in her eyes.
She looked like she had been wronged, but was trying hard to endure it, in Adrienne’s eyes.
Adrienne furrowed her brow and asked, “Hanna, what happened?”
She looked at the bookstore behind Johanna and said, “You came to submit the translation today, right? What’s wrong, not going well?”
Johanna suddenly looked up, bit her lip hard, and took a step to the side as if to block something.
Her deliberate gesture actually caught Adrienne’s attention.
