Arianna couldn’t help glancing over when she saw her manger looking so thrilled. She listened to the melody and, even without the lyrics, found it absolutely stunning. She asked in disbelief, “You bought this for 60 thousand dollars a track?”
“Exactly!” The manager grinned so wide that her eyes practically disappeared behind her brows. She added, “Your recent songs haven’t been very impressive, but these ones came just in time to bail us out. Once we tweak the lyrics and adapt the melody to your style, there shouldn’t be any problem.”
“Do whatever you think’s best,” Arianna replied absentmindedly. Right now, she had something far more important to deal with.
Renata’s message was still sitting in her phone. Just reading it made Arianna’s heart pound so loudly, she nearly screamed on the spot!

After hurriedly wrapping up, she arranged to meet Renata
as possible.
Renata didn’t get along with Kelly, so Arianna had always kept close to Kelly in order to have a legitimate excuse to visit Aiden at the Walker house.

Renata smirked and replied, “Of course it is. That impostor tricked the entire Walker family. She really thought she could keep it hidden forever. What a
joke.”
“How could the Clark family let something like this happen?” Arianna pressed.
Renata responded, “Because Valerie’s their adopted daughter. She threatened to take her own life over it. After raising her for so many years, they just couldn’t bring themselves to let her go through with it. So in the end, they sacrificed their biological daughter.”
‘So that’s how it is…‘ Arianna thought, growing even more disgusted with Valerie.
She remarked, “What a revolting woman. Do`you have any proof of this?”
“What are you planning to do?” Renata narrowed her eyes and asked.
“What else?” Arianna said with layered meaning. “At a time like this, what we need is a righteous crusader.”
Renata smiled in satisfaction and said warmly, “This is an opportunity. My aunt has always liked you. If you manage to get rid of Valerie, maybe she’ll even let you marry my brother, Aiden.”
Hearing that, Arianna couldn’t help but feel a flicker of hope.
After all, she had truly liked Aiden.
She’d liked him ever since they were kids.

Vivian and Arianna’s mother, Lucianna, used to be good friends. They often met up for meals when things were calm. Lucianna said, “If you’re worried it’ll be boring, bring your daughter–in–law along. There’ll be lots of women there. Everyone’s curious to see her. I mean, look at you. Your son’s been married for so long, and you still haven’t introduced her to anyone. Even if we don’t become in–laws, we’re still friends, aren’t we? Don’t be a stranger.”
Her words made Vivian feel a little guilty, and she quickly agreed.
When Valerie picked up Vivian’s call, she was a bit surprised and asked, “Saturday?”

“Hmm… I arranged to go shopping with a friend,” Valerie replied.
“I see. Can you reschedule?” Vivian asked gently. “A lot of my friends will be there this time, and they all want to meet you.”
Valerie looked at Adrienne apologetically and said into the phone, “Alright, I’ll talk to my friend. I’ll be back on Friday.”
After hanging up, Vivian felt quite pleased.

Valerie gave her a sheepish smile before tugging Adrienne out the door for their run.

In less than a month, Adrienne had slimmed down visibly. But not a day went by without her howling like a ghost in protest.

Valerie could only shake her head in exasperation and stop with her. She was just about to tease Adrienne for being weak when suddenly, a sharp cramp struck her lower abdomen.
It came out of nowhere. Valerie almost lost her balance on the spot and had to grab onto Adrienne to stay upright.
Adrienne jumped in alarm. “Valerie, what’s wrong?”
Valerie’s face had gone completely pale, and cold sweat poured down her forehead.
