“It’s nothing special,” Meredith said modestly while secretly delighted. “It’s nothing that impressive. I usually compose the melodies. You know I’m pretty good at the piano. Jasmine writes the lyrics and handles the vocals. We make a great team.”

“I’ve been your classmate for so long and never knew you had such skills. No wonder you’re always together. Shared hobbies do bring people closer.”
“Speaking of shared interests, doesn’t Valerie also like playing the piano? I saw her in the auditorium yesterday. Her playing was beautiful.”

While many admired Jasmine and Meredith for their singing and songwriting, most still had a better impression of Valerie. Soon, the crowd around Jasmine dispersed.
Meredith pouted. “Gross. Everyone’s been brainwashed by Valerie. I don’t get why she’s so popular.”
“It’s because she has money,” Jasmine said, pulling out a music score. “She married a rich husband, so of course she has money. These people just want to suck up to her. If you were that rich, they’d be all over you too.”
“True,” Meredith replied with envy, looking down at the score. “Let’s just get back to practice.”
Jasmine and Meredith soon got into practice mode, both tacitly ignoring the origin of the music sheet in their hands. At that moment, they were both fantasizing about a dazzling and glamorous future.
After class, the two of them set off together for the recording studio. Just as they stepped out of the academic building, a young woman stopped them.
She looked about twenty, with a sharp chin, a round nose, and oversized sunglasses. She smiled at them and said, “Hi, you’re from the jewelry department, right? Do you know Valerie?”
Jasmine was annoyed to hear Valeris’s name again.
Jasmine scowled. “Nope, don’t know her. So annoying. Go find someone else.”
Meredith tugged at her sleeve. “Don’t be like that. We’re all classmates. May I ask what you need from Valerie?”

Juliette’s eyes lit up slightly. “You two seem to really dislike her. So you do know her, right?”
Jasmine snapped, “Yeah, so what?”
“Nothing much. I hate her too.” Juliette leaned closer and whispered, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend. How about helping me dut?”
Jasmine rolled her eyes. “Don’t have time. Lots of people hate her. Who do you think you are? Let’s go, we’re busy.”
She strode off quickly.
Meredith felt awkward. She glanced at Juliette, who looked visibly annoyed, and whispered, “Give me your phone.”
Juliette quickly handed over her phone, and Meredith swiftly typed in her number.
From the front, Jasmine called out, “Hurry up! Why are you wasting time with her?”
“I’m coming!” Meredith replied, shoving the phone back to Juliette and rushing off.
After adding Meredith on WhatsApp, Juliette continued asking around and discovered that Valerie was practically a celebrity in the jewelry department. From freshmen to seniors, everyone knew who she was.
Through her inquiries, Juliette learned that Aiden had visited Reano University. Not only that, but he had donated 3 million dollars to the school and even gifted a top–tier Yamaha grand piano to the auditorium so Valerie could practice properly.
The more Juliette learned, the more envious she became.
She thought Valerie had been average her whole life in every way, except luck.
And now Valerie had lucked into an amazing man. He was rich, young, handsome, and completely devoted to her.
And on top of that, she might actually be the biological daughter of the Shelton family.
Juliette was seething with jealousy, but she still kept her movements discreet. After asking around, she realized that the only two people who showed clear animosity toward Valerie were the girls she had first encountered.
She quietly left and returned to her hotel before opening her WhatsApp chat with Meredith.
She was just one step away from entering the Shelton family.
Camren visited her once. He hadn’t returned, but someone claiming to be his secretary had contacted her, saying they wanted to take her for a DNA test.
Of course, Juliette didn’t dare go. She had faked heartbreak and made up an excuse to dodge it. After all, the wooden pendant belonged to Valerie.
Getting Valerie’s blood sample was impossible, but some of her hair might work.
