Anastasia looked at her sympathetically. “It’s never too late to choose to live for yourself.”
Mrs. Potter smiled bitterly. “If only it were that simple. There are too many interests involved–children, family, reputation… Anyway, let’s not talk about depressing stuff. Looks like they’re finishing up. I hope they finalize the contract soon.”
“Yeah, though I honestly don’t understand much about business,” Anastasia said modestly.
A shrewd glint flashed in Mrs. Potter’s eyes. “Mr. Rhodes really cherishes you–he doesn’t want you worrying about these things.”
Anastasia smiled but didn’t respond.
Just then, Cassian walked toward them, his gaze focused tenderly on Anastasia.
“You two done chatting?” he asked quietly.
Anastasia nodded. “Yeah, I was just about to come find you.”
Cassian nodded politely to Mrs. Potter. “Mrs. Potter, excuse us.”
Mrs. Potter quickly smiled. “Of course, Mr. Rhodes. You two go ahead.”
It looked like the negotiations were in their final stages.
Cassian naturally took Anastasia’s hand and led her away for a walk.
The scenery here was beautiful–a nice chance to relax.
“You tired?” Cassian asked softly, his thumb gently stroking the back of her hand.
Anastasia shook her head. “I’m okay.”
