Chapter 8
Jacob didn’t expect me to directly contradict him. He hurriedly grabbed my sleeve, trying to persuade me: “Kennedy, everything that happened earlier was just a misunderstanding. I was too impulsive, too worried about you, which made me act that way. I swear I’ll never go near Aurora again. Isn’t that enough? I truly care about you, Kennedy. You can’t be so heartless toward me.”
I rolled my eyes and looked toward Alexander and Valentina.
“As you can see, I grew up with help from my neighbors. To repay their kindness, I married Jacob, but he betrayed me and got together with Aurora. First, he pretended to be sick, trying to trick me into selling my acceptance letter to Aurora. When that plan was exposed, he stole my identity and took my bracelet. I absolutely must divorce him!” I declared.
Alexander and Valentina hadn’t realized I’d been living such a difficult life away from home. A guard stepped forward and kicked Jacob to the ground: “How dare you treat General Taylor’s daughter this way. You just wait!”
Jacob trembled all over, reaching out to grab me: “Kennedy, they’re so scary. You surely can’t bear to watch me get punished, right? Please help me beg for mercy, save me!”
I kicked Jacob’s hand away: “When you pretended to be
paralyzed to trick me into selling my scores, when you stole my bracelet to give to Aurora, when you publicly stripped my

clothes off–did you ever think about saving me then?”
Jacob’s pleas got stuck in his throat, and he finally gave up.
Finally, I turned to Aurora.
Aurora had always used her big–city background as an excuse to belittle and insult me. Now that I’d become a general’s daughter, she no longer had her former arrogance in front of me–only desperate pleas for mercy remained.
She cried: “Kennedy, I didn’t mean it. Jacob said he had a way to trick you out of your scores. Pretending to be sick was his idea, slandering you and stealing your gold bracelet was also his idea. Kennedy, I was just following what he told me to do. I never meant to hurt you.”
”
I smiled, thinking she was begging for mercy now, but it was too late.
“Dad, Mom, this pair of scoundrels worked together to force me into a corner where I had no choice but to sell my SAT scores. I know doing that went against everything you taught me before. But I was alone out here with no support, unable to fight against them. Now that the truth is out, you must help me get divorced,” I said through tears.
Alexander and Valentina nodded, then directly had Aurora and Jacob tied up and taken to the hotel.

On the way, Aurora kept cursing while Jacob kept begging for
mercy.
If I didn’t have memories from my previous life, I probably would have softened and let them go.
However, the tragic experience of dying at the hands of my closest people in my past life continued to haunt and torment me like a nightmare. I had to get revenge!
With Alexander and Valentina’s help, I successfully obtained my divorce certificate. Not only that, I gained eligibility to take next year’s SAT, allowing me to study for another year and retake the
exam.
As for Ariana… when she initially promised to give me fifty thousand dollars, I felt something was off. I immediately had Alexander and Valentina send people to investigate, and sure enough, they discovered her parents were involved in embezzlement. They were subsequently arrested and imprisoned.
Ariana had always bullied me because of her wealthy family, but now her good days were over. Her purchase of my SAT scores was reported, and she permanently lost her eligibility to take the SAT.
She would have to spend the rest of her life working with her hands on a farm.

Aurora had repeatedly framed me. After Natalia spread word throughout the village about what she had done, no one was willing to associate with her anymore. She couldn’t even return to the city and was trapped in the village for life.
Jacob repeatedly sought me out, wanting to reconcile. After I rejected him countless times, he finally gave up and married his beloved Aurora.
Their days weren’t comfortable. Aurora thought Jacob was incompetent, while Jacob blamed Aurora for not being a general’s daughter who could help him in any way.
As they spent more time together, they fought daily and eventually beat each other day and night.
The following year, I was accepted to university again. Along with the acceptance letter came a letter from Natalia.
In her letter, she said Aurora couldn’t tolerate the incompetent Jacob, so she poisoned him, planning to kill him and then find a way to leave.
However, Aurora used too small a dose. Jacob didn’t die and even managed to fight back with all his strength, killing Aurora at their front door.
Although Jacob didn’t die, it was poison after all, and no one was willing to save him. He eventually became paralyzed from the severe poisoning.

Seeing Jacob’s fate, I sighed.
Back then, he had pretended to be paralyzed and deceived me out of my entire future. Now, as he had claimed, he was truly paralyzed.
Unfortunately, no one would be willing to sacrifice their own future to help treat his condition anymore.
