Chapter38
“Fredrick, I’m really sorry. There were some issues at home yesterday and today, so the translation got delayed. I’ll have the translated document sent to you by Colton tomorrow.”
Fredrick quickly waved his hand, “No rush, no rush.”
He looked a bit embarrassed, “Actually, your translation speed is much faster than others, I’m not here to rush you.”
He paused, his gaze falling on the certificate in Lizzie’s hand, with a hint of melancholy in his tone that he didn’t even realize.
“I just felt that this intermediate translator certificate was quite important. After receiving it, I thought I should quick- ly hand it over to you to feel at ease.”
Actually, he couldn’t really explain why. It’s like this wasn’t just a job title certificate, but more like a long overdue, must–be–fulfilled expectation.
Lizzie’s heart skipped a beat.
In the previous life, the title of “intermediate translator” was a shared regret between the two of them.
Fredrick never saw her get the Intermediate Translator Certificate until he died, he always felt sorry for her.
Lizzie could feel that, even though Fredrick didn’t have memories of his past life, that buried obsession deep in his heart seemed to transcend time and still affect his mood at this moment.
An indescribable sourness surged in Lizzie’s heart again, her gaze clear and determined, “Fredrick, don’t worry. I not only want to be an intermediate translator. I also want to quickly advance to become an advanced translator.”
Finally, she jokingly said, “When the time comes, I’ll use the benefits given to me to earn a good car with my own abilities!”
Fredrick didn’t think she was reaching for the stars at all, instead he was impressed. All the embarrassment and inex- plicable melancholy disappeared in an instant, and his eyes were full of admiration.
“Good! Good spirit!”
- He nodded vigorously and said excitedly, “Lizzie, as long as you have a goal! I can’t wait to see you become an ad- vanced translator one day! I’ll take you to the city to pick up your new car!”
Colton got home from school and happened to overhear what Fredrick was saying.
The boy’s eyes lit up instantly, he pushed open the courtyard door and rushed in, hands on the table, staring at Lizzie eagerly, “Lizzie! Is it true? Will there really be nice cars?”
Emery frowned at the kid’s rude behavior, then reached out and grabbed Colton’s ear.

“No manners at all! What’s all the shouting about! Not even saying hello to the guests, what are you thinking!”
Colton exclaimed and quickly broke free from Emery’s “iron grip,” taking à few steps back to keep away from Emery.
He rubbed his red ears, but he didn’t look upset at all. Instead, he grinned and showed his white teeth.
Fredrick obediently called out, “Fredrick.”
Then, he immediately turned his head, his bright eyes staring at Lizzie eagerly, confirming once again.
“Lizzie, is what Fredrick said true? Can you really win back a nice car?”
Lizzie looked at Colton’s bright black eyes and nodded with a smile.
Colton immediately jumped up and cheered happily, knocking over a few chairs in the living room.
Emery was happy in his heart, but he raised his hand in a pretend angry manner and said, “How can you be so rude in front of guests!”
Fredrick looked at the young man’s eager and energetic appearance, and he couldn’t help but laugh.
He happily waved his hand, indicating Emery not to be angry, with no trace of offense on his face.
Kids, it’s normal to get excited when you hear a nice car.
Besides, this was earned by his sister for him!
“Colton ran back every day to take care of me, and he helped me deliver the manuscript, having a car is more conve- nient. Thank you for your hard work.”
Colton grabbed his hair and chuckled, “We’re family, no problem, I have the strength to run!”
“Does that mean we don’t need a car anymore?” Lizzie teased him.
“I need it! I really need it!” Colton said urgently.
Everyone was laughing at him as he sweated nervously.
Fredrick and Lizzie chatted for a bit, then they left.
Fredrick had just left when Glenna came back.
Colton happily told her, “Mom, Lizzie is going to get me a car!”
Emery frowned as he read the instructions Lizzie had written for him, and when he heard his words, he laughed and scolded, “You brat, you haven’t even got the car yet, stop showing off.”
He was afraid of showing off too much and putting too much pressure on Lizzie.
“Lizzie was definitely going to get the car!” Colton said proudly.
“Lay low, too much show–off will make others jealous,” Lizzie said, taking a break from translating the document.
