Chapter 14

Tristan’s POV

How was this possible? This womanwho had

anomaly. Now, with her standing before me,

her way into

my life, who had fled five years ago

without a tracewas my true mate? My wol

been drawn to her, but I’d dismissed it as a strange

undeniable

And something else was different. Through our locked gaze, I sensed itthe presence of a wolf inside her. But Lysandra had been wolfless. How could she possibly

Let me take control, my wolf demanded, his voice a guttural growl that reverberated through my bones. She is OURS

I pushed him back, focusing on the woman before me. Lysandra’s eyes had widened momentarilyhad she felt it too? The mate bond snapping into place between us? But her expression quickly shuttered, revealing nothing

I’m surprised to see you here,I said, the words coming out harsher than intended

She lifted her chin slightly, her posture betraying none of the nervousness I remembered. I have every right to attend the Moon Ring Council; why are you surprised?”

The coldness in her tone caught me off guard. I studied her, taking in every detail of her transformation. The scared, uncertain woman I’d known had been replaced by this confident, stunning creature who stood her ground without flinching

Which pack have you been with all these years?I asked, stepping closer

She didn’t back away. Alpha Tristan, I believe my connection to Silverblood Pack was severed entirely. I sincerely hope that’s enough for you to stop questioning me about anything.”

Alpha Tristan? The formal title stung more than I expected. As if we were strangers. As if we hadn’t shared a bed, a name, a life

Her eyes darted past me, scanning the corridor. Looking for someone. Ready to escape me again

Who was she looking for when I was standing right in front of her

How dare she ignore me? She had no right to disregard me like this. Where did she get this bravery from? The Lysandra I knew would never have dared look through me as if I were invisible

I noticed the stares from others in the hallway, their expressions filled with confusion. Of course they didn’t know who Lysandra wasI’d never taken her to pack events or council gatherings during our marriage. She’d been my secret, kept away from the public eye, and now here she stood as if she belonged

I ignored their curious gazes and refocused on the woman before me. Her posture shifted subtlyshe’d found whoever she was searching for. Without another word, she turned to leave

The rage that surged through me was beyond anything I’d felt in years

My hand shot out, fingers wrapping around her wrist. I pulled her toward me, close enough to feel the heat radiating from her body. She stiffened, clearly taken aback by my action

What are you doing?she asked, her voice low

a response. Instead, I tightened my grip slightly and began pulling her toward

anith fear, but with irritation. Alpha Tristan, please release my hand.”

The formal title again. Like a knife between ribs

When I continued walking, ignoring her command, she grabbed my arm with her free hand. For a moment, I thought she might soften, might say she was here for me after all. Perhaps even admit she’d missed me

Instead, she leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. Every Alpha in this room is watching us,she said, a hint of urgency beneath her cold exterior. I’d rather not create a scene here. Let go of me.”

I almost laughed at her concern. So this woman thought being seen with me would create a scene? She was actually trying to distance herself from me in public? The audacityas if she had the right to reject me

I glanced around, scanning the curious gazes of pack leaders and council members before pulling her down the hallway toward a private room

My Alpha presence created an invisible barrier around usno one dared approach as I guided her away from

prying eyes

The moment the door closed behind us, I released her wrist. Before she could retreat, I turned, effectively trapping her between my body and the wall without actually touching her. Moonlight spilled through the floortoceiling windows, outlining her silhouette in silver

My gaze dropped briefly to her collarbone, where the smooth curve disappeared beneath black satin, before forcing myself to meet her emerald eyes again. We stood close enough that our breaths mingled in the space between us. The scent of purple wolfsbane clung to her skin, making my knuckles whiten at my sides

Let me go,she said, placing her palm against my chest, only to snatch it back when she felt my heart racing

beneath her touch

Let you go?I didn’t move closer, instead tilting my head away from her scent, my voice dropping dangerously low. You disappeared for five years without a trace.”

I paused, controlling the maelstrom of emotions threatening to break free. You,another pause as I collected. myself, my gaze cooling, how dare you walk in and out of my life whenever you please? Vanish for five years and return with a goddamn wolf.”

We divorced five years ago,she replied, her voice almost steady, though her tongue darted out to wet her lips nervously. Please respect that we have no connection anymore.”

Respect?I placed one hand on the wall beside her head, leaning in but stopping just short of invading her personal space. You seem to have forgotten how you manipulated me into marriage.”

Chapter 14

My wolf snarled in protest at my words, pushing against my control. The contradiction tore at memy human side holding onto five years of resentment while my wolf recognized her as his other half

This is the first time in five years,I whispered, my palm flat against the wall, veins prominent across the back of my hand, that I’ve felt out of control.”

My gaze dropped to the side of her neck where my mark should have been, then quickly away. My jaw clenched hard enough to ache

Through our proximity, I felt an unmistakable pullour wolves calling to each other across the space between us. Her purple wolf and mine, reaching out, straining toward each other while we both fought against the magnetic force of our bond
