Jessica felt a headache coming on.

Jessica thought to herself, ‘Pity him? For what? The Demon King only knows how to play the victim, in reality, he’s a ruthless wolf whe’d devoury without leaving a trace.
‘Only someone as soft hearted as Garbisch would actually pity him.

The carriage soon pulled up at the back gate of Leon’s residence when Jessica suddenly ordered, “Take us to the front gate.”
“The front gate?” Garbisch stared in disbelief. “You’re going to visit Leon through the main entrance this late at night? Aren’t you worried about causing gossip?”
“As the Deputy Commander of the Royal Guard, I’m here on official business concerning Leon’s safety. There’s nothing to hide, why should I care about gossip?”
So, sure enough, their carriage pulled up at the main entrance of Leon House,
Jessica alighted from the carriage and strode through the main entrance with unquestionable authority.
Everything about her demeanor was open and aboveboard.
But as soon as she stepped inside, a few words from Leon shattered her composure in an instant.
Leon pouted, “Did you go see that other man instead of coming to see me? Jessica, you’re so partial! I’m going to complain to the Duke!”
Shawn nearly dropped to his knees in disbelief.
Just as Shawn’s legs were about to give way, Magnus grabbed him by the collar and tossed him out the door.
The door slammed shut, with Magnus himself stranded outside as well.
Jessica gave Leon a brief glance before setting down her medical Kit.
She asked, “Your Highness, did you summon me here just to check on your?”
Leon raised an eyebrow, genuinely intrigued. “You know medicine too?”
“Didn’t Your Highness send someone to dig into my past?” Jessica shot him an exasperated glance.
Leon snorted, “I didn’t even know you were a warrior, let alone that you know medicine. How could I possibly have found that out? Did you pick that up
in Southernville?”
As a child, Jessica would spend at least three month’s every year staying in Southernville.
Later, when she went on campaigns with Garbisch, her stays in Southernville became shorter. But whenever possible, she would return to her grandfather’s home for a short stay.
The Holden family of Southernville was an entity beyond the reach of his investigators,

So when it came to Jessica’s time in Southernville, Leon basically kept his distance. He didn’t investigate, didn’t ask, and never pried
Jessica walked to the bedside, and Leon immediately thrust out his arm and rolled up his sleeve with eager anticipation.
Jessica was torn between amusement and exasperation, though her face remained impassive. “Your Highness, you seem in excellent spirits. Do you really need me to check on you?“.
“Naturally, I feel better when you’re here,” Leon answered matter–of–factly.
Jessica shot him a glance before placing her slender fingers on his wrist to check his pulse. As she did so, she remarked, “I’ve heard Leon is a man of few words, cold and distant to everyone. Is the man before me truly the same prince?”
Leon let out a sigh, his expression tinged with unmistakable resignation.
Leon lowered his gaze to Jessica’s fair, delicate face and said sincerely, “Jessica, you’re already so distant from me. If I were to keep silent, too, we’d
never make this work.”
Jessica froze momentarily, then looked up, only to find her gaze unexpectedly locked with the profound depths of his eyes.
She thought, ‘He’s actually serious,’
‘He has always been aloof and unreadable by nature, yet now, just to get along with me, he is trying so hard to be open and cheerful. Is all of this really
for me?‘
