“Jessica, I want… to hold you.” Leon’s deep voice carried an intoxicating magnetism.
Jessica was nearly intoxicated by his alluring scent, especially as he drew near, a fresh, natural scent wafted from him, the purest, subtlest hint of masculinity, clean and unmistakably his.
In that instant, her heart pounded wildly.
“What did he just say? He wants to hold me?‘ Jessica thought, her heart racing.
But Jessica reached out first.
Before she knew it, the military manual had slipped from her hand onto the blanket, and her hand was already reaching out. Without even realizing it, her fingertips brushed against Leon’s mask.
The delicate fragrance teased Leon’s senses and heart. When her fingers brushed his mask, a surge of heat rushed through him, overwhelmed by an irresistible impulse. In one swift motion, his arms encircled her, pulling her firmly against him.
Her soft form pressed against him, the striking contrast between her feminine curves and his masculine strength drawing a silent sigh from both their hearts.
His towering frame instantly enveloped her, while her soft, yielding form seemed to fill the void in his heart in that very moment.
Jessica’s breathing grew rapid and uneven, her mind starting to blur as she slipped into a daze.
In her dazed state, Jessica seemed to see that fire again.
Just as the flames were about to swallow her whole, Leon strode through the fire. She couldn’t see his face, but his scent, which was so distinct and pleasant, lingered even at the presence of the smoke and burning timber.
The moment Leon lifted her into his arms, she knew she was safe.
The fire still raged, devouring everything around, but Jessica knew that as long as Leon was there, she would be safe.
At some point, the mask had slipped to the floor. In her line of sight was a face, unblemished, spotless, strikingly handsome, a natural, god–given
perfection.
It turned out that beauty was not meant for women alone after all.
A man could actually be this breathtakingly beautiful.
So beautiful that it stole her breath away.
That strikingly handsome face kept growing larger in Jessica’s vision, until it became so magnified that it blurred into indistinctness.
With every breath, Jessica felt herself enveloped in Leon’s intoxicating scent.
Her body felt feverishly warm and pliant, an almost masochistic urge to be molded by his hands rising within her. She even wanted to dissolve completely beneath his touch.
“Wait, wait a second!” Jessica gasped abruptly.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her chest, jolting Jessica back to her senses.
Looking down, she nearly let out a startled scream.
‘What the hell is this jerk doing?‘ she fumed inwardly.

Jessica cried out, “Get off me! Stop moving!”
Leon pulled away abruptly from her embrace, his breathing ragged and uneven, his clothes in complete disarray.
Jessica’s face drained of color in fright. She cupped Leon’s face in her hands, wanting to push him away but not daring to.
‘Damn, that hurt like hell! He bit me so hard!‘ she fumed inwardly.
“Jessica, I… I’ll come see you again tomorrow!” Leon blurted out, then vanished in the blink of an eye.
He was gone like the wind.
But Jessica saw it clearly that his face was flushed a deep crimson, as if blood might seep through his skin
at any moment.
‘Especially in his current state… Isn’t he worried someone might see him like that?‘ Jessica thought, her cheeks flushing.
Jessica felt inexplicably irritated. She thought, ‘What if Leon ran into another girl out there? And if she noticed… well, his current state? Just thinking about it put me in a foul mood!
“Couldn’t he at least wait to compose himself before rushing out?
‘God, he’s infuriating!‘
After she had somewhat calmed down, Jessica adjusted her disheveled clothes, though her breathing was still utterly ragged.
Jessica instinctively shielded her chest with her hands, her face burning with a mix of embarrassment and other indescribable feelings. She couldn’t quite put her finger on what she was feeling.
She thought, ‘That bastard… he really hurt me like hell!‘
