Chapter 22
Eliza’s POV
After that incident, Edward didn’t come to see me for a full three days.
During those days, I tried every way I could to contact Jason.
Ever since Edward had come to the gallery to bother me last time, Jason had given me a small portable tracker.
At the time, I thought he was overreacting, but he insisted that Edward wouldn’t let things go so easily.
It was Jason’s careful thinking that made him finally force this tracker into my hands.
On the very first day Edward kidnapped me, he took away all my communication devices and thoroughly searched my entire body.
The only thing he missed was the hairpin on my head. Inside the hairpin was the tracker Jason
gave me.
pulled out the hairpin and pressed the button on the tracker to turn it on.
Soon, Jason would receive the signal and come to get me.
Compared to the last time we met, Edward looked a bit healthier. It seemed like he had recovered somewhat after these days of rest.
He brought me a cup of hot coffee and said, “Eliza, have some coffee.”
I splashed the hot coffee right onto his face. “These childish tricks are meaningless. Edward, let
me go.”
He didn’t get angry despite the coffee soaking his face. “Eliza, what exactly will it take for you to forgive me?”
I gave a cold smile. “For me to forgive you, you’d have to die.”
No sooner had I spoken than Edward pulled out a dagger, aiming it at his own heart, ready to
stab himself.
This time, there was no doubt he would die.
I hurried forward and grabbed his hand.
“Edward, are you crazy? Are you threatening me?”
He gave a bitter smile and pressed the dagger into my hand. “No, if my suicide isn’t enough to satisfy your grudge, then you do it yourself.”
Edward held my hand and was about to stab himself in the heart.
I trembled with fear all over. I was too weak to stop him and could only watch helplessly as the
sharp blade gradually pierced his chest.
Bright red blood fell, staining the carpet.
In the end, terrified, I mustered all my strength and pushed Edward away.
He seemed unprepared for my sudden push and the dagger plunged straight into his heart.
Immediately, Edward spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, blood gushing from his chest.
4:42 pm DD
I stood there stunned, staring at him collapsing on the ground, my mind completely blank.
It wasn’t until the people around discovered Edward on the floor and screamed that I snapped back to reality.
“Eliza… you, you really are heartless…“.
That was the last thing Edward said to me before closing his eyes.
I watched Edward being rushed into the ambulance but stayed rooted in place, not following
him.
I didn’t know how much time passed before someone handed me a cup of warm water, which finally helped me pull myself back together.
“Eliza, it’s over now. Everything’s done.”
I turned around to see Jason had arrived at the scene without me noticing.
Outside the house, his helicopter was waiting. He had come to take me home.
Let’s go. We’re going home.” Jason took my hand and step by step, we walked toward th helicopter.
Walking out of that door that had trapped me for so many days, I felt like I was stepping into a whole new world.
The cool night breeze brushed against my face, blowing away the last trace of bloodstain from my body.
From that day on, my life officially got back on track. The planned traveling art exhibition wen on as scheduled.
From now on, I truly wasn’t alone anymore.
I knew Jason would always stand behind me.
(The End)
It really felt good having a bright future.
